An interesting experience to stay underground. Unlike the underground motel we've stayed in at Coober Pedy, the walls are mostly lined and painted white, so brighter but not so beautiful. The price seemed a bit expensive for a room without an ensuite, but the included continental breakfast was excellent and exceeded expectations. Climbing the stairs up to the sunset viewing area was a highlight. Lots of historical photos and geological samples and information are a very interesting bonus.

The bedroom was comfortable enough, although getting lost is part of the experience. The bathrooms need attention - there were only 2 showers that worked beyond a pathetic dribble of water. The bathroom area was rather cold. The meals were very good but the dining area was cold even with the slow combustion fire going. Lucky the power didn’t go out - the torches attached to the room key did not work. The motel is not welcoming. There are far better underground stay experiences in other more welcoming towns.

The motel was comfortable and unique. There were 10 of us in the party and we had our own area for dinner. The food was good and the service great. Make sure you go up the stairs to view the outback sunset. If you are lucky, you will encounter Mick who will fill you in on opals and fossils.

The staff were extra helpful and extremely friendly.Loved the whole experience.Our room was close to Bathroom, which is a must otherwise you may lose direction underground.We will be back. My husband was ok pleasantly surprised about the whole underground experience.

The Underground Motel has dugouts for your accommodation. The rooms looks exactly as portrayed, very clean and cool - the bathrooms are separate, easy to navigate and plenty. A small concession for the overall experience. It has a museum and a top viewing area for sunrise and sunset. The dining room is warm and welcoming with a lovely wood fire oven, a lounge area and TV for communal use with a few separate tables for groups to play cards etc - there is even a small library. A complimentary continental breakfast is a great way to start the day and they also provide hearty evening meals. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

We had a great 2-night stay at this motel - the second underground motel we have stayed in! Some of the more negative reviews here do not reflect our experience. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. There were two electric cars here during our stay and it was no trouble for them to help us both plug in to outdoor power points so that we could charge our cars overnight. The restaurant has a relatively limited menu but you need to remember where you are - in the middle of nowhere. We had a great meal and the dining room was fine. Yes this motel has shared bathroom facilities but we found them perfectly clean and functional. The water pressure was fine and we had nice hot showers. This motel is quite large and the expanse of underground tunnels and rooms is quite amazing. We got lost and disoriented a couple of times but that's part of the fun and we loved it. Some people I guess turn their nose up at anything less than 5-stars. If that's the kind of person you are, then don't go to places like White Cliffs and stick to places like Dubai where you'll have a completely inauthentic and sanitised experience.

This an experience to go on the bucket list of experiences. We had 2 nights in this motel in one of the dugouts, the room temp was greater than that outside. The front end lobby was cool to it in even though they had a fire place. The bed was comfy and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I made mistake on my booking date.tried to sort it out .rudest staff I have ever met.totally unhelpful.they tried to charge me for a double booking.even though I couldn’t be there on either date they offered .would not recommend this as a place to stay
