Holbrook Manor & Spa

Holbrook Manor & Spa ★★★

📍 Castle Cary, Road, Wincanton

"The location suited us perfectly. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our rooms, being comfortable, clean and peaceful. We had coffee and cake in the cafe, which was very nice. The breakfast was ok too. I used the gym, which unfortunately was a bit crowded when i went so wasnt able to use the free weights or any of the racks but did make use of the machines so did get a work out done. I would definitely stay again... yes it could do with a bit of updating but for the cost it was great and i look forward to the next time 😊"

Hunters Lodge Inn ★★★

📍 B3081, Hunters Lodge Inn, Leigh Common, Wincanton

"Excellent room and shower room facilities, including an iron and fan in room. Comfy bed. Quiet bedroom annex, considering the proximity of the Inn to a busy road. Breakfast was decent, although scrambled eggs were more like an omelette. Excellent value."

"My third stay at the Nog Inn and again it was spot on. Comfy bed, clean room, really well appointed and very welcoming and friendly welcome. Will definitely be back."

Market House 17th Century Boutique B&B ★★★

📍 3 Market Place, Wincanton

"Brilliant location. Charming place with real character. Everything you needed was left out (including drinks and breakfast items and the instructions for key collection were simple to follow. We have a fabulous time - a little different from the normal soul-less hotel rooms you get with some chains. Unique and beautifully kept."

Holbrook Manor & Spa ★★★
"We booked 2 nights for a relaxing spa weekend. Based on it being a spa hotel. We planned on staying in the hotel for the whole weekend.  When we arrived we were told there was no restaurant or bar we can use as it’s only used for events.  We then had some lunch in the spa cafe. Food was ok. Service was terrible.  We then went to the room as we were able to check in. The cleaner was still there. Very apologetic extremely polite and lovely. The room was absolutely wonderful. Large bedroom bathroom and living room.  We went out and found a pub for food. When we returned to relax in the room we found the party was directly below us and in full swing. Very loud and noisy and the smoking area was right outside our window. We called reception but they were fully booked. Glad to say it all stopped at midnight.  We went down to breakfast at 9.30. Not much left and the full breakfast was cold. When we questioned it we were just told”well it has been there since 7” it had just sat on the side in silver trays for 2.5 hours, no heat or option to reheat. It wasn’t edible.  We skipped breakfast that we paid for on the second day.  We then thought we would spend some time in the spa. Ha! Well the pool is small, no where to relax just a couple of plastic chairs, not a spa at all. It had a very small sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi didn’t work it was just a pool of cloudy water with a few bubbles.  Would not recommend. Seems it used to be and could be a wonderful place to be but has been taken over and lost its sole. Such a shame as the building and grounds are wonderful.  I have to add the cleaning staff and lady on reception were wonderful, welcoming and friendly."

"Good sized clean rooms. Wi-fi a bit of a let down in the rooms but works well close the bar. Nice large tv in rooms with plenty of channels. Excellent food and fast service at the restaurant"

The Nog Inn ★★★
"The rooms are furnished to a high standard, with comfy bed and pillows. Bathroom had the wow factor and all super clean. Stayed with friends for one night as visiting the Xmas lights in Stourhead. Hosts really helpful, we arrived when the high street was closed due to Xmas fair but help was at hand for directions and with our luggage. Stayed B&B and breakfast was also good. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again."

"A very quirky place to stay, had the whole place to myself (a very trusting owner). Very clean and comfortable rooms No cooked breakfast but a great selection of healthy options - fruit, yoghurt, granola and croissants etc. I found this place by chance, but I'd definitely come back"
