Our first Forest Holidays holiday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It’s calmer and more pared back than other similar set ups and much more relaxing as a consequence. Our kids loved the bikes that we hired and we made full use of the cycling/walking routes. There was a small issue with one of the bikes and this was switched out for another one straight away at the bike shed. The staff in the shop/cafe are lovely and so helpful. We brought our food with us for the weekend but had a takeaway pizza treat night which we thought was good value and was delivered up to our lodge. The site felt safe enough that we allowed our children to walk down to the shop on their own to pick up snacks which they thought was the best thing ever. I’m sure we’ll be back soon.

The cabin we stayed in which was disabled accessible was really nice what let the stay down for us was the road infrastructure around the cabins which is impossible in a wheelchair or small mobility scooter you need a rough terrain scooter to access the grounds

Terrifying late night staff visit. Whilst visiting this lovely place, we had a very intimidating late night visitor saying we were too loud. The man crept up to our veranda and stated we were too loud. We apologised and asked which cabin he was in. He shouted that he was staff. He was rude and intimidating, had a beard, and had a red and black hoodie pulled up over his head. It was a horrible experience for a group of women, and not at all what we would expect. He made us feel worried and anxious and unsafe. If someone had made a complaint we would expect a knock at the door or a phone call, not a midnight creeper. We’re really sad and upset that this has happened.

We’ve stayed at Forest holidays last year at the Forest of Dean so knew the set up in advance etc, this time we booked the tree house as was a large group of us plus dogs! Number 34 we had a few issues on arrival ( few missing items the tree house decking was covered in moss) but Jodi was straight away onto it within in minutes she personally delivered the items, organised for Shane to pop round sort the decking we are well travelled and were totally blown away by such customer service! We loved it so much I’ve literally just booked again same weekend next year! Great setting for family friends and dogs! enhanced by the staff! Thank you also to the lovely staff in the shop wonderful check in and just brilliant See you all next year!!

Staff are very good. Linen was good. Hot tubs are new, but our cabin was so very dated and needed a complete refurbishment 😟 The bathrooms need total refurbishment. The kitchen is dated and needs renewing. The windows were filthy. The decking was not cleared of leaves at all. Timber decking and balustrade areas are literally rotting. Our hot was not private enough. The maintenance is very poor. Torn mattress cover. Definitely not value for money. We paid what was effectively £500 a night. You could get more for your money than this. It’s a con and was a total disappointment for us. Ruined our Xmas.

Outstanding family holiday from start to finish. The lodge was spacious and had everything we needed kitchen and linen wise. The hot tub and log burner was a touch of comfort and luxury. The staff were outstanding every single of them, they couldn’t do enough for us, from resolving little niggles instantly . To helping with our daughter’s bike, to arranging for us to borrow board games on a rainy day and throwing in little extras when it was needed. I am literally booking our next stay as we speak!! We enjoyed quiet family time with Nike rides, feeding our array of cabin decking bird visitors, toasting marshmallows in the log burner, lovely walks and bike rides, and of course the amazing Wednesday (or Saturday) night quiz at the forest retreat (amazing food there if you don’t want to cook). We loved the fact it was not like the over commercialised center parcs. And just luxurious peace and quiet with the family. The entertainment package was worth it. The bike hire too, as there are great family friendly paths to follow. We didn’t do any of the archery etc activities as only did four nights and we just wanted to chill but next time we will try as they all looked well organised! It was so magical! Highly recommend and we can’t wait to go back!

We booked a silver birch lodge, which sleeps 6 & has a hot tub, for a pre Christmas family weekend break. The lodge was spacious, comfortable & well equipped. The hot tub was great. The site has a small cafe/shop/play area & ample free parking. Sadly, the weather was awful & on the Saturday it was so bad we were advised not to go out. During the day we had at least 6 power cuts & with two young children in our party, it wasn’t the fun day it was meant to be. The staff kindly supplied us with water, candles etc. Sunday was not quite as bad, but Marwell was shut, so the main bit of our break was ruined, although we did manage to visit Winchester Christmas Market late afternoon, when the weather was better. To make up for the TV not being available on Sat, the staff gave us the movie package free of charge on Sunday. Sadly, we had a pretty poor weekend, but that’s not down to the accommodation or the staff. The lodge & all the staff were great. I’d happily stay here again & hopefully, next time the weather is kinder to us!

I've just come back from a long weekend break with 6 friends, plus my dog and we had an amazing time. The cabin was lovely, forest beautiful but we were all extremely impressed by the friendly and helpful staff who all went above and beyond to help us out several times over the weekend, particularly Jodi!!! On a friendly and helpful scale of 1-10, the team at Blackwood Forest are 20s.
