The Island View - A1

Very welcoming hosts, great food & dog friendly We stayed in a family room (double & two single beds) along with the family dog in September. We had great views from our room, which was a good size. The double bed was comfortable, but the mattresses on the single beds were not very good, so we had to adapt bedding accordingly (we did ask for additional duvet covers to help rectify this, but they were not forthcoming). We had breakfast on both days (vegetarian – options were different on each day). The food was very good and the service was excellent. We would have liked to stay for an evening meal, but we needed free internet access in order to plan for our ongoing trip (at the time of our stay, BT had not been able to resolve the issue). As others have mentioned, the inn is located on the A1, but we were not bothered by the traffic.

This was the second time I've stayed here and have booked again for July. EVERYTHING about The Island View is just spot on. It is run by Simon and Sarah with the help of their 2 daughters and believe me you couldn't meet a more helpful,conscientious family. The rooms are lovely with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The breakfasts and evening meals are delicious and there is a well stocked bar. The area it is situated in is excellent for beautiful beaches, castles and lovely quaint villages, but also easily accessible for Edinburgh. I just can't rate it highly enough

We had the pleasure of attending the premises whilst on holiday ,we went for an evening meal.(and i reiterate the word pleasure because it was ) We along with extended family were staying at the Haven Caravan site at Haggerston Castle. We found the pub very welcoming ,it was cosy and clean and the staff were attentive , friendly and the prices were reasonable. There was four adults in our party and because of our different tastes we all finished up ordered something different yet the meals arrived quickly, hot, substantial and very tasty. Part way through the meal towards the end ,the staff were eager to see if we had enjoyed the meal and if all was ok,which it was. The only criticism i can level at the pub was,we called again the following evening and it was closed despite the website stating it was open. In conclusion we would definitely recommend paying a visit i don't think you will be disappointed.

We stayed for one night on 29 July 2023. We had a room with twin beds as this was all that was available at short notice on Sat night. The host was very pleasant and approachable although he never introduced himself. Good breakfast. Under new management. I wish them well for the future.

Great inn on the A1 and a good base for visiting Berwick, Holy Island and Bamburgh. We stayed for 3 nights in June and used The Island View Inn as a base for our trips out. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable and the view from the room across the countryside and coast was lovely. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was great but we also had dinner there 2 out of the 3 nights and that was also very good quality and value. The inn is right on the A1 but the traffic in Northumberland is nothing like in the South so there is no road noise in the room. Great base for exploring the area.
