Visited pretty recently Lovely food we had the fishfinger sandwich and it was lovely ! Served by a very kind young woman she seemed to know most of the people, I think her name was Martha. Extremely good service and was very professional. Definitely going to be on our new walking route

Quite excellent Sunday lunches Between us we tried both the lamb{£21.95) and pork (£19.95) roasts, both well presented. Decent sized portions excellently cooked. Starters are big portions and very hot - clearly just cooked - we had breaded mushrooms (£7.95) and 'salt and pepper' squid - £8.95. Friendly, quick service with pleasant staff - no service charge but tip box on the bar. Nice bistro pub atmosphere. Pre-booked dogs are welcome in some parts of the bar but not all. Exterior 'garden' large and busy (and could do with a makeover)

Food was average/adequate. The pub and venue was very nice. Food and service need a lot of improvement. Had to queue and pay at the bar, after sitting in the restaurant area. Payment should have been in the restaurant area, instead of having to queue to pay at the end. Staff curt, when asked to order a small meal for an elderly lady, and was told “well, that’s our policy” and they walked off, when enquired. Table service, the staff were lovely in general. Desserts all came out at different times. Ice creams all serviced last, and the crumble was rather dry. Not worth the prices they charge and we wouldn’t go back for food. Would go back for a drink in the garden.

I booked a family lunch this week based on my local experience the over many years. I was most disappointed ( appalled ) at what we found. Just one person doing all front of house , running the bar and serving the outside tables. Result after the first course we waited for follow-up service - which never came- so we left halfway through the meal. As for the food - well the 'daily specials' consisted of Burger type stuff - proper food listed on the printed menu. my pie was obviously a commercial product- not very good- and all the veg were just lukewarm. Other choices similarly not great. Barn like room not very warm. Family party not happy- me ashamed.

We popped in for drinks after a long walk and what a lovely little place it is. We sat down outside as it was warm and whilst we were there happy hour was between 4-5 with wines and beer (and maybe other drinks) being half price. We would definitely visit again

Stayed here overnight while walking the Ridgeway path with friends. The rooms were very comfortable and well stocked with toiletries, tea, biscuits etc. We ate here in the evening and enjoyed the food and beer. Full English breakfast in the morning was excellent. Staff were all pleasant and helpful.

I went yesterday with two friends for Saturday lunch. The menu looked quite nice, with mashed potatoes included with about half the dishes. We ordered, then were told there was no mash available, so we had to ask for menus again and re-ordered. One of us asked for a black pepper grinder, to be told there was only one in the restaurant and it was broken. The food came and was mediocre at best. Then we ordered coffee - cappucino, mocha and flat white. We were told there was only filter coffee available, take it or leave it. The service was friendly but amateurish with items just plonked down on the table. One of my friends complained at the bar on the way out, and was told we had been asked to leave (?!) which of course we hadn't. I would definitely not recommend the Plough as frankly it just isn't much good - there are far better pubs in the area.

i went here a couple weeks ago, the food was nice but not nice enough for the price of it. We did find a hair in our food and parts of it were cold when we first got given it. pretty pub but food isn’t that nice or hygienic. the pub was lovely looking but the only thing that let it down was the food.

We arranged to meet at The Plough for a meal with friends. Given that there were 7 of us, we were asked to pre order and pay a £10/head deposit. When we arrived, despite pre ordering, we were told that one of the dishes was now u available so we re ordered. Sadly when the food arrives it was pretty underwhelming. The vegetables were over cooked and the food was stodgy. The menu itself probably should have warned us as as everything sounded quite stodgy and heavy. Such a shame as it’s a pub in a great position but the atmosphere, decor and food has definitely gone downhill over the last few years.
