Your review Arrived at the hotel and was greeted at reception, payment was taken very swiftly before showing us where we were staying. We were lead to a double room in the courtyard. Once in the room we were greeted by a creaky door and a very cold tiny area which had the strongest damp musty smell. On closer inspection the room and bathroom was dirty and damp. Curtains moth bitten and blinds were covered in mould spores , this was a concern due to being asthmatic. Without any further inspection in fear of what we might find, the decision was soon made that we could not stay in that room. We explained to the owner our concerns regarding the damp/dirt and our health if we stayed, we explained we wished to leave with a refund. We were not listen to and told that the room was perfectly acceptable. Not excepting any negative feedback and “gaslighting” us like we were the problem. After back and forth discussion and refusal of any issues with the room we were offered an alternative room to which we refused due to the manor in which we were spoken to after politely giving some customer feedback. Also the fact that the first room was described as perfectly acceptable didn’t leave us with much hope. We asked again for a refund as we did not wish to stay the night, this was refused and we were told to leave . I have never been treated like that in what should be a professional business . The fact that any negative feedback is not acknowledge and the owners become very defensive when told, is incredibly unprofessional. We left and felt robbed of our money , we ended up late for the wedding reception we were staying for and arrived very upset and flustered.

We have visited The Bull’s Head numerous times whilst staying locally. The service is always excellent and the staff super friendly. We booked Sunday lunch again today and were not disappointed. The food quality was excellent and our roast beef was delicious. This little place is extremely good value for money and even better as we were able to take our two little dogs and sit in the bar area. Nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be back! Thanks guys!

Completely my fault in that I got my time of arrival wrong and put the wrong postcode into my satnav but Norma couldn't have been more kind and understanding - even staying late to allow for my late arrival. Great staff and a good breakfast! The following morning. Thank you.

If you like a traditional hotel with lots of character and superb food, this is the place for you. Excellent owner, who made you feel very welcome. Clean and tidy throughout. Variety of accommodation available from self catering to bed and breakfast rooms.

I would definately stay here again. My wife & I were touring this area by car and stayed for 2 nights. A friendly pub with plenty of parking. Rooms in April were quite cold - we liked that, as many hotel bedrooms are far too hot. The bed was extremely comfortable. Although our room was above the bar and facing out to the main road, it was very quiet. We ate in the bar both nights and the food was good and good value. Breakfast was fine. This was a successful place for us to stay at this price range.

This could be a lovely b&b but sadly the standard of decor and cleanlinesss is very poor. The decor is dated and does not suit the chaacterful period property and the furniture is poor quality. There were tea stains splashed up the wall and mildew in the bathroom.

I’m sorry to have to write this review because the owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming. The pub itself is traditional and cosy , serve a good pint and seems to be landmark for the locals. Unfortunately we only ate once , my husband enjoys a mixed grill, asked for the steak rare and when it came it was literally a pile of dried up meat. When the waitress asked if we had enjoyed the meal she could see he had left over half, she said she’d let the chef know but there was no apology. The room , no 2 , family room , was large enough but the bathroom was so small, wouldn’t like to of dealt with a child in there. I had to wash my hair from outside the cubicle and managed it was that small. The first thing we did when we took our shoes off was pick up pieces of grit , even stood on an earring butterfly.the room needed lots of TLC. If you want quiet this room was above the bar , and be warned it live music night on a Saturday . Breakfast was nostalgic, tin grapefruit and Kellogg varieties on the menu and we were told it’s only between 8.30 and 9.30, and we told if you want it earlier people buy it in town.

Firstly the lady who greeted us for our stay was lovely and the Guinness in the cosy and warm bar was excellent. However the room was not great. We were put in a room just off the car park and not in the main pub. We were greeted with an overflowing ashtray and several cigarette ends right outside our door. The windows were filthy and the carpets dusty with cobwebs in the bathroom. The pillows were much used and flat and the rooms are in desperate need of refurbing. The only good thing was the heating was good and easy to control but the lampshades were cracked and we expected a basic level of cleanliness. I understand it’s not always easy for hoteliers to upgrade their rooms with the costs involved but you would expect the rooms to be clean. Such a shame as gorgeous location but generally run down.
