Sofitel Legend People's Grand Hotel Xian

Great location, quiet yet central, and convenient parking. The staff were proactive and friendly, and they even upgraded my room. Booking through Ctrip made it a fantastic deal. Breakfast was a semi-buffet, semi-à la carte, and the Roujiamo and Eggs Benedict, which were recommended by other travelers, were both delicious.

This hotel exudes a strong sense of history. Most of the guests are foreigners. The walk-in price for this hotel in Stuttgart, Germany, is comparable to what you'd pay for an Ibis. I was just there two days ago, and for people from Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, it's incredibly cheap.

Wow! The location is absolutely perfect, and the hotel's facilities are top-notch. The decor is simply stunning. However, the service could use some improvement, or rather, the staff's proactive service awareness needs to be enhanced. Additionally, I suggest upgrading the quality of the in-room amenities.

While the hotel is undeniably a bit old, it's incredibly well-maintained. The French-style decor is subtly luxurious, and the gardens are beautiful. Breakfast offers a good blend of local flavors; though not extensive, the quality of the dishes is quite decent. I particularly want to praise the hotel's desserts – they are truly exquisite French pastries. The afternoon tea is freshly made, and you can still smell the warm buttery aroma when it's served. Both the sweet and savory items are perfectly balanced, which was truly amazing. My low rating is for the service. The staff seemed very green, almost like interns. Upon arrival, there was no doorman to open the car door or help with luggage. During check-in, no one bothered to introduce the hotel's functional facilities until I specifically asked, as if they only remembered my entitlements then. The restaurant staff couldn't even distinguish table numbers when serving (which was the most laughable part). After a guest stated a request, a staff member actually just turned around and walked away. Lobby staff were loudly chatting among themselves during working hours; the guests in the lobby were quiet, but the staff were quite noisy. At check-out, the front desk staff were completely unresponsive – they didn't take the room card or say anything, just stood far away, watching me put the card on the table myself, with their hands behind their backs throughout. Ultimately, the hotel's location, its rich historical and cultural heritage, and its status as one of only six Accor Legendary hotels worldwide are all reasons guests choose to stay here. However, for a brand's sustainability and stable profitability, long-term meticulous operation and professional staff training are crucial.

The Sofitel Xi'an boasts an excellent location, with attentive and meticulous service. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and exude an elegant French charm. The breakfast spread is abundant. Overall, an outstanding stay that I highly recommend.

The building has a rich history, and stepping into the lobby reveals a modern French style. **Cleanliness:** Exceptionally clean and tidy, even the white carpet was spotless. **Ambiance:** The French fountain outside the window made it feel like a scene from a romance novel. **Service:** Outstanding service! Every staff member, from their expressions to their actions, made you feel genuinely welcome and comfortable. **Executive Privileges:** The hotel provided a $100 credit, which could be used at any of the four restaurants – a truly practical and amazing value!

Came specifically to experience this hotel. The scenery isn't as good as the old waterfall, but the interior decor here is very elegant. The service is also excellent; the bellboys run out to open car doors and hold umbrellas. The butler service on the day of check-in was very thoughtful, offering shoe-shining, which was perfect since my shoes were muddy from the Terracotta Army that morning... very helpful! They also allow food delivery, and the staff proactively bring it up to your room very quickly. During check-out, I met the concierge manager who noted guest suggestions and even gave recommendations for food and travel, which was a nice bonus!

My stay at Sofitel Legend Xian exceeded all expectations. The hotel's ambiance is tranquil and elegant, with a fantastic design that truly creates an incredible atmosphere. The staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly polite, offering a butler-style service that made me feel completely at ease. A special shout-out to the butlers Jack, Tommy, Derek, Doris, and Eva! The room was also spotlessly clean, well-appointed with all the amenities, and had excellent soundproofing, ensuring a fantastic night's sleep. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, this is definitely the top choice in Xi'an.

I hadn't stayed at Sofitel Legend before, but I had twice stayed at the Sofitel and Mercure hotels next door (Mercure has since closed down). However, I've always had an irresistible attraction to hotels with a rich history, especially those converted from former high-level government guesthouses (let's call them 'old money hotels'). While planning where to go for the 2026 Chinese New Year, a short video platform surprisingly pushed this hotel that had always intrigued me. I checked the prices, and compared to other five-star hotels in Xi'an, it was significantly cheaper, so I booked a New Year's Eve stay. Upon arrival, the doorman promptly opened the car door and helped with our luggage, which goes without saying (though, to be fair, many five-star hotel doormen nowadays lack such proactiveness). The front desk staff efficiently and smoothly handled the check-in process, offering a choice of champagne, coffee, or black tea as a welcome drink. While resting in the lounge area, I happened to see a few young women taking photos in the hotel's coffee corner, adding a lively touch to the atmosphere. The attendant escorted us to our room, briefly introducing the hotel's history. Built in the 1950s, it served as a provincial guesthouse, combining Soviet, French, and traditional Chinese architectural styles. The complimentary bottled water was also in Tetra Pak packaging, reflecting the hotel's commitment to green practices. During our stay, the restaurant's host remembered our preferences by the second day. The 'shui盆牛肉' (beef soup) with 'baiji mo' (flatbread) was incredibly fragrant and chewy; I almost wanted to pack some to take home. The butler service was also impeccable, with turn-down service promptly at 7 PM every evening. The local specialty drink, 'Bingfeng' soda, was a delightful taste sensation. On the morning of the first day of Chinese New Year, the hotel arranged a lion dance performance – I never expected to see a Southern Lion dance team in Xi'an. Although the hotel only has 71 guest rooms, excluding the few business presidential suites that are rarely occupied by ordinary guests, there are about 60 rooms. Based on my observations during our 4-day, 3-night stay over Chinese New Year, there were probably only 8-9 other occupied rooms, so the overall occupancy rate wasn't high. Perhaps most people don't choose this place, as its exterior appears very understated and discreet. However, I highly recommend it, especially when traveling with elderly family members. The location is super convenient for getting around, just a 10-minute walk from Wulukou Station on Metro Line 1 (right next to Minleyuan and Wanda Plaza). I'd love to stay here again next time I visit Xi'an, haha! 😄
