I was planning a family trip to Xiamen with my parents, wife, and child, and I was torn between the Waldorf Astoria, Andaz, Seven Villas, and Conrad. Ultimately, I chose the Conrad Xiamen, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. While the hardware luxury might not be as new as some of the recently opened hotels, the unbeatable sea, mountain, and Xiamen University views more than made up for it. The 'Mountain and Sea' twin-bedroom suite was also very spacious, perfect for a family vacation. In terms of service, I personally feel it surpasses (at least the Waldorf Astoria). We dined at Xian Cheng, and I felt the Waldorf Astoria's concierge services were lacking, whereas the staff at Conrad Xiamen, from top to bottom, were incredibly warm and attentive.
For dining, we initially tried Ludao Xuan for convenience, and the food was surprisingly good – so much so that we ate there for four consecutive days (my family even preferred it over Xian Cheng). The turndown service with complimentary desserts was also a lovely touch. As for sightseeing, since it was my child's first time in Xiamen, the hotel's location is excellent, being very close to major attractions like Gulangyu Island, Xiamen University, the Botanical Garden, and the Huli Mountain Fort. The only minor drawback is that Shapowei is downstairs, which can lead to some traffic congestion.
Overall, I consider it the top choice for luxury accommodation in Xiamen, and I highly recommend it!
