Absolutely loved this ryokan! Even though the room only had a toilet and bathing was in the communal bath, it wasn't crowded at all since we visited on a weekday in January. The hot spring was incredibly comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional, not just some afterthought! They were proper Japanese-style meals. For the price, it was an absolute steal! The only downside is that the location is a bit far out, and since we didn't have a car, taking the bus was a bit inconvenient. However, the 30-minute walk to Hirano in the morning to watch the sunrise was absolutely stunning~ Highly recommended!

The location is convenient, the food is decent, the staff are friendly, and the environment is clean enough.

The location is a bit remote, but driving is fine. Many of the staff are not from Japan. The facilities are basic, but considering the price and the inclusion of two meals per night, the value for money is still very high. It's rare for a hotel to help make up the mattress, as many hotels now require guests to do so themselves. The food isn't luxurious; I would call it kaiseki rather than traditional Japanese cuisine, but the taste was acceptable. The hot spring temperature was comfortable, but I personally felt it could be a little warmer.

The Nepalese staff all spoke excellent Japanese and provided wonderful service. Everyone was so friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food offered a wide variety, and the presentation was creative and delicious. The view of Mount Fuji from the large public bath and observation deck was also fantastic!

It is a hot spring hotel with a traditional Japanese culture, with a one-stop-two meal. The room was clean and comfortable. Sleeping very comfortably, if the bathroom is designed with Japanese wood grain, it should be more attractive, the view outside the room window should be able to see Mount Fuji, but covered by trees, however you can go to the third floor observation deck to view, and there is a telescope to see the detail of Mount Fuji up close. There are 3 different convenience stores about a 6 minute drive nearby. Overall recommended self-drive travelers, want to experience the traditional Japanese culture and do not want to pay too high, this must be your most suitable choice, high value for money. The quality of the food is good. The portion is just right.

The food was delicious, and the public restrooms in the hallway were spacious, making it suitable for many people to stay.

Many locals also stay at Shuzanso, where the food, including two meals a day, is plentiful and fresh. The Japanese-style rooms are very beautiful, and the observation deck on the 3rd floor offers a distant view of Mount Fuji. The staff are very polite. The only downside is that transportation is very inconvenient; it's not recommended for non-driving tourists unless you don't mind taking a taxi.
