Perfect place to stay! Location is really good, it’s easy close to the snow monkey park and bus station. Hotel is beautiful and authentic. Breakfast and dinner were amazing. Thanks a lot to the staff who help me to congratulate my husband with his birthday. Everyone was so nice and kind.🫶 Guys made a birthday cake and special photo. Onsen was also good. Thanks!

A beautiful ryokan that offers a respite from the crowds at the monkey pool. The service was flawless, the food was amazing and the onsen a highlight for my partner. I liked the snow-covered garden and the view of the mountains from my balcony. Be aware that the ryokan is family friendly so you may be eating your nine-course kaiseki to the sounds of screaming toddlers.

My husband and I spent one night here as part of our honeymoon, and it was such a memorable and unique experience. We took the local bus up and only had to walk a few minutes before reaching the place. The hotel was beautiful, peaceful, clean, and quiet. We booked a private onsen and it was well worth every penny. We also added the dinner and breakfast package, and each of the meals were delicious. Such a special experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who has the opportunity. Also, make sure to try the local apples!

It was the best location for an overnight stay to view the snow monkeys. The lodging is very comfortable and the outdoor onsen was amazing. The meal plans are worth it.

We loved every minute of this hotel. The food was the best we had in Japan. The mountain views were stunning. I also loved the ryokan and indoor/outdoor onsen. Very old school, elegant, and grand hotel steps to Monkey Park. The hotel knows how to cater to westerners yet maintain a Japanese ryokan experience. We will return. Aloha

This is a truly comfortable and in fact elegant ryokan with all amenities desired. The staff is simply wonderful - nice, helpful with very good English language skills. The ryokan itself is very traditional in layout and style but very modern in amenities. Good location close to snow monkey park and Shiga Kogen skiing. All in all a wonderful experience

Small and cute place to be. Once you get to the train station or bus stop, give them a call and they will come pick you up. You can walk if you want, but it does go uphill a little bit if you have suitcase with you. Staff is really nice and accommodating. We did have one of our friends ending up pregnant on the trip after we had booked the trip and she was not able to eat many of the foods. They were really nice and worked with what she could eat and even gave her a little omamori (like a charm) for her healthy and safe pregnancy and birth. Would recommend to others. The individual onsen in each room is wonderful and if you want to have more people gather together, get the bigger rooms. Mt. Fuji is visible but understand that it depends on time of day and season. Due to the smaller space, there is only one area to gather downstairs, which is also where you check in. Not a big deal for us, but for those who wants like a whole area to walk around in the hotel, then may want to look at those bigger hotels.

Senjukaku is located at the Jigoku Monkey Park bus stop, just a few hundred meters away in the direction of the Monkey Park. This is an old hot spring hotel, and the Japanese emperor, empress, prince, princess, etc. have stayed here several times. The hotel upholds traditional Japanese service. When checking in, a staff member will take us all the way to the room, while introducing the various rooms and uses of the hotel. After taking us into the room, he will introduce the rooms and uses of the room in detail. The hotel allows you to enjoy tea while watching the snow scenery outside, and the scenery is superb. I won't get tired of sitting here for a whole day. We booked a set meal for one night and two meals. We went to the hot spring before dinner. The outdoor hot spring here is beautiful. Soaking in the warm spring, watching the pine trees under the snow, the mist floating, and the trance of the fairyland-Is it because of this that Senjukaku is called? After soaking in the hot spring and having dinner, we arrived at the restaurant. The staff immediately led the way. The two of us had a special private room, and a staff member Toshi served us throughout the whole process. The hotel's dinner is Japanese kaiseki cuisine, with wine and tea, a total of ten dishes. After finishing a dish, Toshi would remove it and serve a new dish. The ingredients of the dishes are limited to the season, and the dishes eaten in each season are different. She would help introduce the origin and eating methods of each dish in detail, which was considerate and warm. But she spoke Japanese, and I could only rely on her few English words and gestures to understand how to eat each dish. Each dish was very exquisite, but because there were so many styles, I was still very full in the end! I have been to Japan four times, and this is the first time I have truly experienced Japanese kaiseki cuisine, which is really satisfying! The hotel has Japanese and Western breakfasts, which can be chosen when checking in, and the time to eat is chosen. The hotel's service is very meticulous. I made tea twice in the room. They washed and restored the tea set when making the bed, and restored it again when making the bed the next day. And the cleaning was done the next day, and even the flowers were replaced. In addition to the normal facilities in the room, there are nail clippers, sewing kits and other small items that you may use. These details make customers full of warmth. We didn't want to go out when we stayed in the hotel. If I have the chance, I want to stay there again, so I won’t go anywhere, just stay in the hotel and stare blankly.

A wonderful hotel near the snow monkey park. The service is second to none, the rooms are fantastic and huge, the food is wonderful and the onsen is beyond anything you can imagine. We only booked for one night because we were visiting the monkey park and were very sad to have to leave after just one day. I recommend a longer stay to everyone!

I feel like I need to write a short essay to match the evaluation of the hotel's service, beautiful scenery, and food. First of all, the service is very enthusiastic, and the first impression is a plus. It was almost 6 o'clock in the evening when we came to Yudanaka Station from Nagano, and we couldn't get a taxi. Because we didn't make an appointment for the hotel to pick us up, we called the hotel with the idea of trying it and asked if we could pick it up. The hotel immediately agreed to pick us up. The staff at the front desk of the hotel were very good and gave us a detailed introduction to the facilities and services of the hotel and the room. When we met the staff on the road, we would also greet them politely and enthusiastically. The uncle in the restaurant always had a smile and served very thoughtfully, and he knew some Chinese. Secondly, the hotel's food and beautiful scenery, the set meal is exquisite, delicious and filling, and taking pictures is even more suitable for Chinese people who want to make films in their lifetime. Soaking in the hot springs and watching the snowflakes flying all over the sky, the fatigue brought by a day's special forces trip was cured. More feelings need to be experienced by yourself in the hotel. In short, I recommend this hotel very much. I will come again during the cherry blossom season. In addition, the hotel is very close to the Mara bath and walks a few dozen meters.

The hotel is old, but in good condition. Ryokan with tatami and futons. Conveniently located for visiting the monkey park. They meet you at the station. We took breakfast and dinner and did not regret it. Nice and friendly staff. Own onsen.

The room is spacious for two people, but it was a bit crowded for four of us. The bathroom facilities are old. The view is good, and you can see the snow-capped mountains from the balcony. Dinner and breakfast were served in the private room. Dinner was good, and breakfast was Japanese and Western style, which was average. The public bath is divided into indoor and outdoor areas, which is relatively small, and there is no sulfur smell, which is similar to the hot springs in Nagano city. The service is very good, the front desk speaks good English, and will pick you up at the train station after calling.
