This is a historic hotel, about 100 years old. It's super convenient, just a 3-minute walk to the ski slopes. Both breakfast and dinner were good, and the hot springs were very relaxing. Thumbs up!

The half board dinner meals were amazing. Close enough to the ski slopes at Kumanoyu and perfect if you love and indoor and outdoor onsen bath as they alternate the experience for males and females. Very quaint place and we loved it!

Two families came for a vacation together. This year, the temperature in Japan is high, and the snow at Hakuba Ski Resort has melted. However, due to the altitude of Shiga Kogen, the snow held up somewhat. Kumagawa Ski Resort isn't large and is beginner-friendly. Apart from the inconvenient transportation, everything else is great.

A typical Japanese hot spring hotel, the hot spring water had a beef gall flavor, which was very good. The service was extremely warm and attentive, and the breakfast and dinner were also thoughtfully prepared. The facilities were a bit old, but they all functioned properly. I would definitely book again next time, especially if I go skiing in Shiga.

Legend has it that injured bears from the Shiga Kogen region would bathe in this emerald-green hot spring, hence the name "Kuma no Yu" (Bear's Bath). Kuma no Yu is the oldest hot spring in the Shiga Kogen region, a rare emerald-green hot spring in Japan; apart from Kunimi Onsen in Iwate Prefecture, you won't find another hot spring this green. The Kuma no Yu Hotel was established in 1927, located behind the Kuma no Yu Ski Resort. During the Showa era, the young Emperor returned here for winter skiing and hot spring bathing. The hotel has been passed down through generations, and the windows display old ski equipment and pictures, indicating the owner is also a skiing enthusiast. This 100% free-flowing, unpaved hot spring is known as the "Yu no Hana" (Flower of the Bath) for its skin-beautifying properties. Today, many hot spring hotels have been built in the surrounding area. Incidentally, other hot spring hotels use hot spring water piped from outside the mountains. Only Kuma no Yu boasts a 100% free-flowing, emerald-green source! During our two-night stay, the hotel service was warm and attentive, always responsive to our needs. Most of the guests were middle-aged or elderly Japanese who had driven themselves; we, from mainland China, were quite a unique case! The hotel itself has historical and cultural significance, is very quiet, and perfect for relaxing! The hotel's open-air Emerald Onsen bath was absolutely stunning; it was almost deserted during the day, and we enjoyed the first bath twice. There were no restaurants near the hotel, so we booked a room and two meals. They thoughtfully arranged for a Chinese-speaking staff member to serve seasonal local dishes, which were more than enough for us. We ordered the best [Shiga Kogen no Chishu Enki] 100% pure rice sake, which was delicious! The Japanese gentleman at the front desk patiently answered all our questions; a special thank you to Ms. Chen at the front desk for her meticulous assistance, even helping us find the best bus route from the hotel to Matsumoto and accompanying us to Nagano Station. We visited Kumanoyu in late autumn in Shiga Kogen and witnessed the first snowfall—so beautiful! In just half a month, it will become a ski resort. If I have the chance to visit Shiga Kogen again, I will definitely choose [Kuma no Yu Hotel].

The highly acclaimed jade-green hot springs were excellent. I accidentally booked a plan without dinner, but they were happy to accommodate me and were very helpful. I would definitely use them again.

We came here specifically for the hotel's green hot spring. There are buses from Yudanaka, which is quite convenient. The hotel mainly provides services for skiers. The rooms are large, dinner is a set meal, and breakfast is a buffet. The meals are pretty good. The hotel has a waiter who can speak Chinese. When we checked out the next day, the girl left a note in Chinese for us who don’t speak English or Japanese. It was really touching!

The Kumanoyu Ski Resort is a treasure. There was heavy snow every day during the few days I was here. The ski slopes are quite suitable for intermediate practice, and it is very close to Yokote Mountain nearby (but it is recommended not to take their connecting road, it is very painful on heavy snow days). The hotel's hot springs are very good, and the food is first-class. Especially the dinner, which is different every day but delicious. I hope to come again in the future.

Xiongzhiyu is really recommended. It is convenient for skiing and there are few people at the ski resort. You can soak in the Emerald Pool during the day. There are almost no people. Your skin will feel slippery after soaking. It is recommended to stay for two days if you can. The open-air pool is for men and women to exchange every other day. The scenery is great! Avoiding the peak of the New Year, there are not many people in the hotel, it is unusually quiet, the breakfast is very rich, and there is also a Japanese grandfather with a doctor for dinner. Both meals are very satisfactory. The room is also very large, clean, and the heating is sufficient. You can also borrow Japanese chess pieces and humidifiers. There are waiters who speak Chinese at the front desk of the hotel!

Skiing: The hotel is at the foot of the Kumanoyu Ski Resort, a 5-minute walk, and you can ski directly to the door when you come back. There is a bus stop at the hotel entrance, and you can take it to Yokoteyama for 2 stops (10 minutes walk), and take it to Yama-no-Eki for 25 minutes. It is one of the two ski resorts in the Yokoteyama area. If you are visiting Shiga Kogen for the first time, it may be a little further to go to the Okushiga area. If you are an experienced person and want to experience the beautiful snow-capped mountains of Yokoteyama, you can rest assured to stay here. Kumanoyu also has a night club, which can make the night more fun. Food: The reservation includes Breakfast and dinner set meal, breakfast buffet, you can eat very full, there are coffee, apple juice, milk, and various salads, ham, bread, natto, dinner is a set meal, different every night, not a lot of meat, but enough to eat, if not enough, you can pay to upgrade the set meal or a la carte, dinner is mostly seafood, there is at least one hot pot every day, dinner starts at 6 o'clock, you can seamlessly connect to the night skiing of Xiongzhiyu Facilities: Japanese and Western style (two single beds) are set, the bed is very soft, but not big, if you can accept tatami, you can also try, but every day after skiing, you have to squat on the spot, which is really tiring and tatami will be harder. There is no refrigerator in the house, you can put drinks on the laminated window, there is a small TV, but it has never been turned on, the bathroom is separated into dry and wet, the bathroom area is relatively large, there is a storage area in the house, you can put snow bags and other items, charging plugs are also complete, because this is a gas stove, so all kinds of electrical appliances are recommended to be used in hot springs to avoid tripping, the bed is very soft, the thickness of the sheets can be adjusted by yourself, the comfort is no problem Hot spring: The most famous green hot spring nearby, full of sulfur smell (other hotels draw hot spring water from outside the mountain, only this one is directly built on the hot spring eye, which is great) The bathing position of the hot spring is slightly cold, but the indoor hot spring is very hot. Men and women have outdoor baths, and they will switch positions at noon every day. You can enjoy the natural joy of watching the heavy snow in the open-air bath, or you can soak in the hot spring like a handful of snow, while applying ice. The hot spring water has a strong sulfur smell, very natural, and has a good skin rejuvenation effect Service: Most of the hotel waiters are Japanese, and their English is not good (the elderly are actually better at English than the young), and they have their own set of rules, such as breakfast drinks cannot be taken away. There are two ********* waiters who are very enthusiastic and will actively help you plan your time, very friendly. There is a supermarket on the first floor of the hotel (not much is sold, not as complete as the supplies of the mountain station), there are vending machines on the third floor (not many drinks are sold), there is a set of automatic massage chairs on the first floor (very popular), and there is also a billiard table (but it seems that there are not enough balls), there is a mini museum, and the other recreational facilities in the hotel are indeed not enough, so you might as well experience the joy of skiing and hot springs. Others: There are temporary storage facilities for men and women on the first floor of the basement (you can store your luggage after checking out and ski for another day, then come back to soak in the hot springs before returning. The front desk guy will also remind you to keep the towel and check it out together after soaking in the hot springs, which is very considerate). There is a stove to bake ski equipment, which is a little helpful. Each room has its own storage room for skis. The space is not large, but it is enough for two skis.

The hotel is a bit old, but it is clean. The water is hot enough, and the room supplies are complete. The heating is sufficient, not too hot, but not cold either. The hotel is far away, and there is no convenience store nearby. There is a coin-operated beverage machine and a small shop in the hotel, but it is not open until late. There is a hot spring in the hotel, so you don’t have to go out to find it, which is convenient. The breakfast is buffet style, and there is no big difference every day. The dinner is a little different every day, which is not bad!
