In my opinion, good service can make any other problems seem trivial. The young men and women of the Mehmood Hotel in Yan'an provided me service above and beyond what should be expected. On arrival after a long day of travel, the lovely Miss Li gave me a refreshing drink while the young men checked me in. Miss Li then escorted me to my room. The room has everything you would need, and more, including some laundry soap and even hair gel! In the evening they offered supper (hun dun) which was a nice touch. Miss Li noticed me limping a little, so she went and got some medicinal spray for me. It is these extra touches that make a huge difference, I really wished I could have stayed longer. Oh, and the breakfast is very filling and tasty - the hostesses and kitchen staff also did an outstanding job. I wish every hotel tried to offer such personal service.
