The White Hart Hotel

This hidden gem of a country inn changed what we thought was going to be a disappointing weekend away to one of the most relaxing weekends I have ever had. The event we were attending had been partially cancelled due to predicted adverse weather conditions which did not happen so we were finished earlier than we thought and decided we would go into Yeovil to fill in the rest of the day as we were supposed to book in to the hotel at half five. Unfortunately we had a boot full of tools that we had just purchases so our suitcases were on the back seat of the car and we didn't fancy parking up with them on display so decided we would call into the hotel and ask if they could store our cases for us until booking in time. We were greeted by one of the nicest men I have ever met who told us we could book in there and them and then proceeded to sort out our breakfast and evening meal bookings for us as well. So in the end we didn't go into Yeovil as we were shown to a very spacious en suite room that looked so invited we decided just to spend time there before going for a very pleasant walk around Martock itself. The evening meal was outstanding, the crab salad particularly enjoyable not to mention the ice cream we had for dessert which was delicious. The bar staff were polite and made us feel very welcome. I had an excellent nights sleep as the bed was very comfortable and the shower in the morning was lovely and warm and powerful. The breakfast was just as good as the evening meal and very good value for money with plenty of hot drinks and toast available if you wanted an extra big breakfast. We are already planning 2 night trip there int the future. Highly recommended, excellent value for money and the place to stay when visiting Martock and the surrounding areas.

Car problems on the way down so late for food but a sandwich was made for us. Late back on Saturday night just in time for a delicious steak. Super warm welcome, lovely people, food great and rooms spotless. Would highly recommend. Struggled to find anywhere. Landed on with the White Heart. Not the poshest, certainly not the most expensive but one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in and we’ve travelled a lot. Couldn’t do too much for you and the atmosphere in the bar on Saturday night was super, took me back 30 years. Lovely friendly locals. We can’t recommend this place enough.
