Guilunfang (Lizhuang Ancient Town)

The views from here are great, and the service was pretty good. The staff were very honest, which I really appreciated. Breakfast was at the Siyue Hotel and it was decent.

Guilunfang and Siyue are part of the same group. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the ancient town and the Moonlight Fields scenic area. It's built on a small hill. You need to park at Siyue, and then a shuttle bus will take both you and your luggage to Guilunfang. Although it might seem a bit inconvenient, the service is great and it's actually very convenient. The hotel facilities are quite good, clean and tidy. We booked late, so we only got this 'cave-style' room, which was a bit small. I'm not sure about the other room types. Even though it was small, it had a unique charm. The rooms are made of wood, so you can hear footsteps in the hallway. This can really affect your rest, especially if there are noisy guests returning late at night. I'd recommend booking an upstairs room. There's an infinity pool that's supposed to open after May Day, and it looks beautiful. Breakfast is served at Siyue, which is actually very close – just a two-minute walk. You can either walk there in the morning or call the shuttle bus. Walking is better, as you can enjoy the scenery along the way.

The hotel's scenery is absolutely stunning, especially by the pool – it's perfect for photos. However, you do have to climb stone steps to get there, which might be difficult for seniors or pregnant women. Also, the room wasn't very soundproof; it was quite noisy at night being so close to the road. Even though earplugs were provided, I didn't sleep well for the two nights. Breakfast was just average and you have to go down to the Siyue Hotel to eat. Parking is also at the Siyue Hotel, but the scenic area's shuttle bus is free with your room card, which is a great perk.

It's right in the Lizhuang Scenic Area. Breakfast is served in another building. There are a lot of stairs, so pack light.

This beautiful guesthouse is located right at the entrance of Lizhuang, with balconies offering direct water views. There's even a mahjong table inside. Both the air conditioning and underfloor heating work wonderfully. The butler service was prompt and excellent, and they also provided pick-up and drop-off. Breakfast at Siyue had a great variety and tasted delicious.

First of all, I absolutely loved the aesthetics of this hotel!! So very Chinese-style! Every detail exudes Chinese beauty. Opening the balcony from the hotel room reveals the fragrant winter plum blossoms! It's like being in a painting!! The facilities are excellent. Booking at a great price during the winter off-season is so comforting, relieving work stress and making me feel relaxed! It's totally worth it!!
