Grand Boss Hotel

Service: We arrived in Yilan late at night and checked in. The two gentlemen at the front desk were very warm and polite, and even told us about delicious local snacks nearby! However, the two waitresses in the restaurant the next morning were quite indifferent, which was a bit disappointing. Cleanliness: The room was clean and tidy, meeting star-rated standards. Environment: The hotel is right across the street from the night market! Even though it was raining, the night market was conveniently located under a bridge, so we didn't get wet at all. Yilan is truly a comfortable place to visit, perfect for a slow-paced trip without rushing, with activities like dolphin and whale watching, and farm animals.

The hotel is a bit old, but it's clean and tidy with no cigarette smell. It has carpeted floors. You can see the hotel sign from the train station.

Cons: The room had mismatched beds (one large, one small). The overall decor felt very dated, almost from the last century. The room lighting was dim, and the bedside outlets had low voltage, causing power banks and phones to charge extremely slowly. The bathroom was quite small, making it difficult for a larger person to turn around comfortably, and there weren't enough bath mats. Pros: The location is excellent, directly opposite Dongmen Night Market. There's a McDonald's right next door, and a laundry shop and Watsons are conveniently located nearby. They offer complimentary bicycle rentals, and we even received a thoughtful farewell gift upon check-out. The staff provided excellent service, offering a map and helpful local recommendations.

The room was excellent, spacious and spotless. The hotel offers great entertainment facilities, including a billiards room downstairs. Breakfast was decent. A bustling night market is conveniently located right across the street, making the evenings very lively. Overall, it offers fantastic value for money.

The location, parking, and overall convenience are simply unbeatable. The hotel has its own parking lot, and directly across the street is a tourist night market that's open daily. Downstairs, there's even a claw machine arcade and a McDonald's. On a side note, the train station is also nearby, as well as a large hospital. However, the hotel's decor and facilities are quite dated and could definitely use an update; the rooms, in particular, are much too dim.
