Motomachi Hisui Building

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE — DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE I rarely write reviews, but this stay was so bad that I feel obligated to warn other travelers. The unit is set up so that two separate guest rooms share a single building entrance on the same floor. This design is a problem waiting to happen — and it happened to us. We arrived late at night and tried to check in using the entrance code we were given. It didn’t work. Why? Because the guest who had already checked into the neighboring room had engaged a second lock on the shared front door, which the provided code could not open. We were locked out of the building entirely, through no fault of our own. I immediately contacted the host for help. They did absolutely nothing. No solution, no support, nothing. While we were trying to get the door open, the guest inside the other room called the police because of the noise. The police arrived — and even then, this person refused to open the door and simply waited us out. As a result, we were left standing outside for over an hour and a half in total. This was a miserable, exhausting, and genuinely distressing way to start a trip. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the nightmare and book somewhere else. On a completely separate note, the Japanese police officers who responded were professional and kind — the one bright spot in an otherwise terrible night.
