The Rose & Crown York

Just got back from a smashing weekend stay in York at the lovely Rose and Crown. A traditional pub with a great atmosphere and good English food just 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre. The room wasn’t fancy but lovely and clean and the bed was nice and comfy. Breakfast was great, plentiful and cooked fresh to order. There’s free parking at the back of the pub which is a bonus coz parking in York isn’t that great! However what made the experience was the lovely warm welcome from Chris and his friendly team. We would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to going back one day.

Last minute booking, lovely cosy pub with rooms, ten minutes easy walk to Shambles, free parking, comfy bed, lovely and clean. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and warm, the food was excellent and the breakfast was perfection. Will definitely recommend and hopefully one day return. Thank you

This was our 4th stay at The Rose and Crown. We came for 2 nights for a little trip just before Christmas. We stayed in room number 1 this time which is a great size with a nice big bathroom. The bed was comfortable and despite being on the main road, we both slept really well. It’s a 10 minute walk and you’re right in the centre so perfectly located. On our first night, we ate here. Food was amazing! Breakfast is always fabulous, first morning, I had the scrambled eggs with spinach and tomato on a toasted muffin - was perfect to help my hangover! Second morning, I had a full English - beautiful! Husband had eggs Benedict both mornings as it’s his favourite. We’ve never had anything negative to say about staying here and I’m positive that we’ll be back!

Great stay at the Rose and Crown. Christopher was a superb host. 15 min walk to the centre and 30 mins to the train station. Rooms really cozy and breakfast was cooked to order and was wonderful. would certainly recommend.

Looking for words to describe this little gem, Situated just outside the walls so a nice 15/20 minute walk into the centre of York and not having to pay city centre hotels silly prices this pub is just lovely….. free parking at the back of the pub and everything is explained to you about your stay on your arrival. The rooms were warm and cosy and everything you would need for a weekend break, shampoo, conditioner and a body wash are provided in the bathroom along with ample towels Tea/coffee facilities are also provided in the room along with complimentary biscuits yum ! Breakfast “omg” enough to feed the biggest of appetites and a good selection of items on the menu to pick from … fresh coffee and juice is also provided Overall a lovely stay to go the Christmas market and a pub we will most definitely be booking again next year, but we will get in early as a gem like this, the word soon gets around ❤️

A lovely pub B&B. A good sized room, immaculately clean towels, bedclothes and the room itself. TV, good WiFi, tea and coffee. Nice local pub atmosphere, beer garden at the rear and very good meals. Breakfast, choice of cereals followed by Full English for myself. Bacon, fried eggs, black pudding, baked beans, sausage, toast, tea or coffee and juice. Freshly prepared really tasty. Other choices Eggs Florantine, eggs Benedict, vegetarian options, good choices. Parking on site and as we stayed two nights with a full day in York leaving the car there and walking into the city was very convenient. A very comfortable stay.

The staff were super friendly and really helpful - sorting us a table for 6 ladies even tho they were busy. The food was lovely- really good value and gorgeous homemade pies - excellent value for money too . Puddings were really delicious and very generous. Cosy and friendly pub with a great menu

Fantastic gastro pub close to the City Wall and a level walk to the bottom of Te Shambles. The rooms are comfortable and clean with King Size bed, shower over bath. One flight of steps up to the rooms. Great breakfast to set you up for your day. They have a very good lunch and dinner menu. The pub has a good atmosphere. Chris on front of house will look after you as will the rest of the staff. Free WiFi. They have a nice outdoor area including a free to use car park at the rear. Will definitely stay here next time we are in York

A fabulous traditional British pub perfectly situated for exploring York. Just a ten minute walk to the Shambles but it will take longer because of all the distractions en route. Good wholesome food and the “Best Pies in York” tag is not unwarranted. Rooms are a little tired and quite noisy on the front but don’t let that put you off. Staff were excellent, breakfast delicious and a large car park which is a bonus. Will definitely stay again when visiting York.
