What a beautiful little gem, just 20 minutes walk to York city centre so we left the car all weekend, also on a great bus route with a no.7 passing every 15 minutes. Lovely pleasant rooms with cute wallpaper and comfy bed, good power shower too! Delicious breakfast and sausages, very helpful and accommodating owners/staff good communication from Paul before arriving. What a lovely stay and thank you for making our belated anniversary special. Andy and Toni x

From the minute I arrived the staff were extremely polite, professional and showed a genuine desire to help. The bedrooms are of a very high standard with everything you could possibly need. The bed was extremely comfortable (to the stage that I struggled to get up the following morning). The food in the restaurant was exceptional. It is rare to find a hotel that can balance between excellent service in a relaxed yet informal setting. If you are travelling on business or pleasure the York Pavilion hotel is a must. Congratulations to all the staff you are all doing a truly fabulous job.

This is a lovely place to stay and highly recommended it. The apartment was large and spacious with good cooking facilities and a lovely dining area. The bathroom is large and modern, and the water pressure for the shower is fantastic. Plenty of towels are available. The bedrooms are large with a good amount of wardrobe and drawer space. There are plenty of mirrors in the apartment which, when there are a few of you getting ready, is definitely a plus! The pub itself is lovely and traditional. There are some lovely original features which Dan told us about which were really interesting. He has very extensive knowledge of the building and its history and is really worth having a listen to him. The location is excellent. It is a 5-10 minute walk from the city centre and just a 2 minute walk from the river. There is parking available on site for no extra cost which is extremely handy for a City like York. Breakfast is available for an extra cost and it is excellent. Evening meals are also available (most evenings) and I highly recommend that you eat here at least one night because the food is excellent. It is well cooked, well presented and the choice is fantastic. There is plenty of food served for both breakfast and evening meals and are all available at a reasonable price. My compliments to the chefs. Finally, all other staff at the pub were very attentive and very friendly. All in all, great location, great value, great amenities, great food, great host and great staff. Absolutely recommend for your stay in York

None of the best hotels in the 5 cities of the UK. The style of the hotel is superb, the owner is two white-haired old people, kind and friendly, especially for the guests. The food recommended for us during the two days staying here is great! We drove in the yard, the weather was cold in the morning when the car was frozen in front of the car, after starting the car, the front window is ice, nothing can be seen, waited a few minutes and only opened a little. It’s time to wait for this to go wrong, and suddenly the old man is holding a pot of hot water on the glass, and the glass is completely transparent. The heart at the time was unusually warm. There is also a trip to Manchester Airport. The weather is snowing. The old man specifically watched the weather. He specially reminded us to set off one hour in advance. It was too late for us to advance one hour earlier, otherwise it would be blocked in the traffic of Manchester in the morning. The summer vacation plan will come again, you must still live here.
The Victoria Hotel

We stayed for 3 nights in room 1 which is a double with what looked like a brand new ensuite. The room/ensuite were spotlessly clean when we arrived and fresh towels and room cleaning were offered daily although we didn't take up the offer. The bed/mattress were really comfortable and there was ample storage and hanging space. The shower was hot every time we used it with good water pressure, which I mention because I have seen previous posts that mention no hot water. The Victoria is under fairly new management and they and the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the cooked breakfast each morning and it was spot on and good value for money. The rooms are above a pub so you should expect some general noise when the pub is open but the noise wasn't intrusive or a problem for us and the pub has a fantastic selection of gin which was a real bonus for me. All in all a great value for money central location with the added bonus of a car park.

We stayed last weekend to celebrate two birthdays and we arrived on the Friday night at approximately 8.00 pm. We managed to get a car park at the Peel Street car park which is literally located at the back of the hotel. You can unload at the the front on the hotel and the road isn't that busy so you can pull up and unload safely. Reception staff friendly and polite and we were allocated room 209. Upon entering the room is did seem dark and not very big and it was a double bed, but the room was clean and it was what we had booked. We went out for the evening just to grab a quick bite to eat and when entering the room and getting ready for bed it was quite noisy outside. I checked the window and the vent only to realise it was shut. I went to Reception to discuss the noise level as I thought it was coming from Weatherspoon's Pub across the road but in fact I had my geographic location wrong and it was in fact coming from a park that is located at the side of the hotel. The staff were very helpful in checking the floors of the hotel to double check it was not coming from within the hotel but we did ascertain that it was in fact people in the park. (NOTE this is not the hotels fault at all). The hotel dealt with this promptly and it went very quiet after about 20 mins so I am guessing the people were moved on by the authorities. The next morning we were relocated to a higher floor, same type of room and layout which served our purposes much better as the room was much lighter and quieter. Thank you. A great view over the city was was lovely. The Manager on site that weekend was very polite and helpful in moving us the following morning when their was availability and rectified the situation promptly for us. It was my birthday weekend and once we were moved we really felt we started to unwind and enjoy our weekend away. Breakfast was plentiful on all three days and the staff in the breakfast room are smiley, polite and constantly checking things were in stock and were always clearing tables. It is a busy breakfast room but nothing was too much trouble for them......even warming the pancakes up as it is a buffet breakfast. Thank you Tia the Manager for solving the problem we had and for Nicky and his co-worker (apologies a lovely blond lady) who went floor to floor on the Friday night to look for the noise which I am glad to say it wasn't coming from within our hotel). A great hotel for walking in the city and although we did have a small problem the Management dealt with it, without any hassle and it was not awkward when seeing them again which was lovely.

Weather and Best time to travel:

Correctly placed between London and Edinburg, the York city lies in North Yorkshire, England. The city has Roman roots and is a quintessential doorstep to the ancient British Experience. Inside the city, the street and walls are still rich in history with independent shops and lively eateries around. Every month the city puts up a festival and attracts millions of visitors. The spirit of living and its murky history makes this city a must-visit. Lying around 270 kilometres north of London, the city is built at the confluence of River Foss and River Ouse. It enjoys a temperate climate which means it has four distinct seasons. The city’s climate is warmer and drier as compared to the rest of Yorkshire. It is also prone to fog, frosts and cold winds in winter, spring and early summer season. York also witnesses snowfall from December to April but it easily melts.  So, keeping all of this in mind the best season to visit would be from March to May. The city looks beautiful around this time due to flowers blooming all around. But this happens to be the peak season as well, so you may find a large crowd around and expensive accommodation. Booking is recommended!
