Hilton Lijiang

The room cleaning was subpar and incomplete. The iron in my room hadn't been cleaned in a long time, and when I used it, it stained my white linen pants with large black marks. After inquiring with the front desk and the cleaning lady, she confirmed it was due to the iron not being cleaned for a long time and that the stains could be washed out. She then replaced the iron for me, but the hotel offered no other compensation or resolution. After checking out, I tried to wash the pants myself, but the black stains were impossible to remove. The hotel's facilities also fall short of five-star standards; everything feels old and dated. The service isn't up to par either. I requested a room close to the elevator in my booking notes, but I was assigned a room almost at the very end of the corridor (as the building is long and narrow, the corridor is extremely long), and it took several minutes to walk from the elevator to my room. Furthermore, the gym is very disappointing, with very few machines, and the swimming pool was overcrowded and poorly maintained. Breakfast was chaotic, with dirty plates everywhere and nowhere to sit, and the food was unappetizing. Even the complimentary fruit platter was meager. I absolutely do not recommend this Hilton; there are too many pitfalls!

The hotel has a door in the back that can't be opened. After being misled by navigation, they wouldn't open it. There are no signs, no streetlights, it's very eerie. The interior environment of the hotel is very good.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the public areas are also large. The swimming pool is fantastic, really big and well-maintained, with a sauna and hot tub available. It's a great hotel for a relaxing vacation. Breakfast is also good. The only downside is that it's a bit far from the tourist attractions.

The facilities are new, and the room layout is great in every aspect. However, since it was a holiday and likely very busy, many small details regarding cleanliness and dining in the restaurant were not handled well. At times, it didn't feel like a high-end hotel.

Firstly, the hotel is a bit old, and it's quite a distance to the ancient city. Secondly, the duplex suite has a few drawbacks: 1. The stairs offer terrible soundproofing; they're noisy and clank all day, making it unsuitable for a relaxing vacation. 2. There was chewing gum on the stair railing... can you believe a 5-star hotel would allow this? 3. Carrying large luggage upstairs is a bit of a hassle. Thirdly, breakfast was a letdown; not only did it lack local flavor, but it also fell short of basic Hilton standards, plus it was crowded. Of course, I'm still very grateful to the staff for upgrading me to a suite as a Diamond member.

The environment is quite nice, with the beautiful Wenbihai lake nearby. The scenery around Wenfeng Temple, a short drive away, is breathtaking. The facilities are good, but there aren't enough staff, which affects the service, especially for such a large hotel. The breakfast buffet wasn't very satisfying; the layout of the serving stations was poorly designed, and the coffee was subpar – definitely not 100% Arabica beans as claimed. Luckily, Richard stepped in, followed up promptly, and handled things patiently. I'd suggest differentiating between group and individual guests. We frequently stay at various hotels, and they often offer a small à la carte menu or some delivery options, which adds to the value and overall experience. Here, there's nothing like that; everything is the same. The dining experience was basically nonexistent and quite boring.

It was alright, but you have to pick up your own food delivery. The environment was pretty good though.

The hotel is not in the Old Town, but about 5 kilometers away, offering a quiet environment with distant views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The rooms are spacious and bright, and the shower/toilet area is well-designed with a wet and dry separation, making for a very comfortable stay. The hotel also has a swimming pool and spa facilities, which are quite comprehensive. The breakfast was especially rich and satisfying.
