Hotel National Zermatt

The breakfast was great, and the hotel was easily accessible from the station. Best of all, we could see the Matterhorn from our room, which made it a fantastic hotel.

We stayed in a Matterhorn view room at Hotel National Zermatt. Looking up, you are immediately greeted by the iconic, pyramid-shaped snowy peak of the Matterhorn. At sunrise, you can enjoy the stunning golden glow on the mountain right from the room. It happened to be my birthday, so we had dinner at the hotel in the evening (our booking was half-board, including breakfast plus either lunch or dinner). The hotel surprised me with a lovely little birthday cake and a birthday song. Celebrating against the backdrop of the snowy mountains made it feel extra special and ceremonial—truly touching!😹 Both breakfast and dinner were sumptuous, and the service was wonderful. They also offer a train station shuttle service. I would definitely consider Hotel National Zermatt again for my next visit.

As expected from a four-star hotel, it's well-equipped with essentials like a refrigerator, bathtub, and hangers. The luggage storage before check-in was very helpful. Breakfast is a buffet, but be aware that popular items like sausages are in a hard-to-find spot. They have a good variety of teas.

The sauna and pool had a great ambiance, and the Matterhorn view from our room was superb. They also quickly arranged a transfer to the station after we checked out.

We booked a loft suite, and the kids absolutely loved playing in the loft. The room was great, breakfast was good, and the L'Occitane toiletries were a nice touch. The only downside was that the bathroom was a bit small and cramped.

I was immediately impressed upon arrival by the beautiful view of the Matterhorn from the terrace. The washroom and bathtub were impeccably clean, and soft bathrobes and slippers were provided. Breakfast offered made-to-order omelets, which were delicious. Upon departure, I was chauffeured to the station in an electric cart. It's a lovely hotel that I would love to stay at again.

It was such a wonderful stay! The sauna facilities were great, and the breakfast was delicious. There were also many Japanese tourists, which made me feel right at home and at ease!

Zermatt is essentially a tourist town, full of hotels, with probably more tourists than locals. The hotel is a bit far from the train station, but thankfully you can book their complimentary shuttle service. Other aspects are pretty standard.
