"Excellent hotel with fantastic river views I booked a ‘Casamance’ room on the first floor, not worth booking the ‘royal’ rooms on that floor as you have the same view, with the same bedding, just a bit more space and a bit more amenities in the ‘royals’. For its views first floor is to recommend. Are rooms are accessed by an outdoor stair and alley. The hotel has a very laid down atmosphere with a small swimming pool, a great terrace,, and fantastic outdoor seating for dinner, both overlooking the river. Food is excellent with lots of local fish plates. The tempura crevettes are mouth watering. I really felt home at this hotel, with its enthousiast staff, and its nice garden filled with local artifacts and flowers."

"I have stayed at this hotel since 2010 and previously wrote a great review. However, they have started asking for a deposit when you make a reservation, and the last 2 times I stayed there I realized (too late) that they did not apply the deposit to my bill when I checked out! When I asked the management to refund my deposit by showing them the receipts, they refused. They claim that even though the receipt does not show the deposit, that they deducted it from the amount I paid, which is not true. No reputable hotel would leave a credit paid off the bill. Unfortunately, I no longer recommend this place and I caution anyone who stays there to be very careful about paying deposits!"

"The rooms are clearly in need of renovation. There was either some (intermittent or very little) or no (running) water. This was supposedly the fault of the water company, but it later turned out that they do have a water tank, but it's running dry due to a problem. At the very least, make sure there's a water supply for your guests. As is the case everywhere in Gambia, this could be a bucket of water for a bucket shower. Waiting for guests to report the (known) problem is not customer-friendly. The dinner we ordered was initially unavailable, but later it was, but it was undercooked and tasteless. The location is beautiful, the staff friendly, but the rooms are disappointing. The price-quality ratio is below par."

"I am a regular day visitor to Namasu. The beach is fabulous and the hotel so welcoming and relaxed. But my trip to day was really enhanced by a massage. This took place in a rooftop massage space, surrounded by trees, so wonderfully airy. Ya Ya was experienced and confident and gave me a great massage. Thank you"

"Woodpecker is close to the airport and I've always passed it but not stopped to see what it's like. This year I met a friend there for a meal and the food and service was good. Had good range of options from local dishes to more Euro/American dishes."
