Arena Suites

We had a standard room and it was perfectly good as we wanted to spend time exploring the town and enjoying the beach. The room was ideal in that it was spacious, had its own bathroom and kitchen area. As we ate out all the time the kitchen was only used for breakfast. The bathroom had a powerful shower and loo whilst the wash basin was separate. The bed was very comfortable and there were spare pillows and blankets available. The air conditioning worked well and there was a ceiling fan. We had a short walk to the pool, down to the beach or the restaurant or up the stairs to the road. I would not recommend staying here if you find stairs a problem as there is no elevator. I did feel the reception desk should have had more information about the town but besides that they were very helpful; printing our boarding passes and organising laundry. My one complaint was that quite often the sunbeds were pre booked with a towel and then empty for much of the day. A delightful place to stay if you want a relaxing beach holiday.

It is a very well located place with an enviable view. The hotel is a little old and expensive in high season but in general it has good beds and air conditioning.
Hotel Villa Mexicana

The hotel is located in one of the most beautiful beaches in Zihuatanejo - La Ropa! The location is super. It's clean and well cared for. Too bad the service was terrible...I went a few years ago and I felt more welcome than this time...people were very unmotivated and very indifferent. Sometimes there are 5 people and no one feels obligated to attend. We arrived at the restaurant shortly before a large group of people arrived. We stood there for about 10 minutes before picking a table individually. They didn't show up for more than 20 minutes to listen rather than apologize or explain. The bar that opens is after 12, which doesn't say anything...they told us at reception when we arrived. Just to be on the safe side, you have to go to the reception and if you're lucky your keys work - mine didn't work! I won't be back!
