Wellnesshotel Schönruh - Adults Only

We are staying here five nights as part of our two week trip in this area. Really like our room with its balcony, large bathroom, and mini fridge. Would have liked to have had a shower cap and some body lotion. Wow, what a fabulous breakfast, with so many selections. We had a glass of wine in the bar last night, which was way too brightly lit, and unfortunately, was almost deserted. Needs to be more lively.

We have visited this hotel many times in the past. This time it was not up to the standard we have previously experienced. The Greek manager was curt. The Bulgarian chef provided main meals that were not of the high standard we have previously been used to. The salads and breakfast choices were the only positive experiences. The constant pop music played in the reception and lounge appeared to be for the benefit of the staff. There was nothing Tirolean about the hotel, as there had been in the past.. The bedroom furnishings were well worn and tired looking.

A beautiful hotel in a a superb location. Friendly and attentive staff, and excellent food. Room was spacious and the bed was very comfy. The heated indoor and outdoor pools were lovely as were all the other spa and wellness facilities. There are multiple saunas and steam rooms. Could not fault this hotel in anyway.

This hotel is extremely understaffed. You get many employees which hardly speak/understand English. Lengthy complicated check-in process. We didn't feel welcome at all. I got a "suite" (most expensive room) on the ground floor with a view to a wall 2 meters away. Not the balcony with a view as advertised... After completing I switched to a better room upstairs. No hot water in the bathroom, during the first night/morning I had to go downstairs to another room for a shower. The internet is SUPER SLOW AND UNSTABLE (2-3 MBPS), shameful for a hotel calling itself "4: star". Also, one sink in the bathroom was clogged. Mayhem at breakfast. Nobody showed us where it was and later, nobody greeted us and showed us the ropes. We got a dark table in a dependence, as the only guests. The egg station man needs to be called and he didn't manage to prepare 2 fried eggs with an intact yolk, 2 times. Buy that man a non sticky pan for god's sake and show him how to transfer the eggs without damage to the plate. The waiters hide well and they don't know how to serve dishes. In general the hotel does not feel welcoming (maybe only depending on returning guests). They hardly explain anything and when we complained reacted rude and not eager to improve our stay. Not problem solving oriented at all. For 360 EUR per night (BREAKFAST NOT INCLUDED) I expected much better. Too expensive for so many hiccups

There is in my opinion much to admire about this hotel.It is in a very pleasant location close to the town centre and is well furbished and maintained,.There are indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and fitness centre and the staff are excellent.The hotel offers full board with breakfast and evening meal.The breakfast is good but not exceptional and has a variety of hot and cold food typical of many international hotels. The evening meal is served in an attractive dining room with the tables immaculately dressed with linen table cloths.There is a good wine list.The set menu with choices reads well but the food does not match up to the description on the menu.A salad buffet to start is followed by a small course, then soup followed by the main course, dessert and cheese.The soups were usually very good but the main courses showed little culinary knowledge or skill.For example Coq au Vin which was a piece of chicken covered with a sauce which I believe made an acquaintance with the chicken when it was put on the plate ,There was no evidence the chicken had been coked with red wine ,mushrooms ,lardons and onions.Likewise a pigs cheek dish in which the flesh was rubbery and hard showed no indication it had been cooked in the sauce which covered it.Another dish was over cooked trout accompanied by beetroot and gnocchi which were also tasteless hard and rubbery.In my few they should remove the second dish and focus more on the main courses.Desserts were nothing special.There is in my view much room for improvement.How about serving some typical Austrian dishes, of which there are many, and which are ideal for what after all is mass catering
