This city surprised me more than Manila 👀🇵🇭

I almost skipped Angeles City… turns out it became my favorite surprise ✨ Before this trip, I honestly thought Manila would be the place I’d remember most in the Philippines. Angeles City was just a stop on my itinerary because it’s close to Clark International Airport. Well… I owe this city an apology. 😂 The first thing that caught me off guard was how different it felt from what I expected. Most people only mention the nightlife, but there’s another side that deserves way more attention. Think cozy cafés, beautiful brunch spots, Korean restaurants everywhere, peaceful streets around Clark, and a slower pace that makes you actually want to wander instead of rushing from one attraction to another. If you’re a foodie, prepare yourself. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this many authentic Korean restaurants outside Korea. From BBQ and fried chicken to bakeries and cafés, every meal became the “okay… just one more place” kind of situation. My diet definitely didn’t survive this trip, but no regrets. 🤭 One of my favorite things was simply café hopping. Angeles has so many aesthetic cafés with great coffee and relaxing interiors. They’re perfect for escaping the afternoon heat, editing photos, or pretending you’re going to answer emails while ordering another latte instead. Getting around was easier than I expected too. If you’re flying into Clark International Airport, you’re already just a short Grab ride from most cafés, restaurants, and hotels in Angeles City. Grab was reliable throughout my trip, and I rarely had trouble finding a ride. For accommodation, you’ll find everything from budget hotels to modern stays around Clark and Balibago, making it easy whether you’re backpacking or looking for a comfortable weekend getaway. Food prices were also surprisingly reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. If you have extra time, don’t just stay inside your hotel. Explore Clark, visit a few cafés, enjoy Korean BBQ for dinner, grab dessert afterwards, and slow down a little. Sometimes the best travel memories aren’t made by checking off famous attractions. They’re made by finding a place that simply feels good to be in. So… did Angeles City surprise me more than Manila? For me, absolutely yes. Not because it has more famous landmarks, but because I arrived with almost no expectations and left wondering why more travelers don’t talk about it.
