Horizon Cub Shangri-La Bangkok⚡

Located at 89 Soi Wat Suan Plu, New Road Bangrak, Bangkok 10500 Thailand I am staying in the Shangri La Bangkok since many years,several times per year,mostly in the Horizon Club which is an exclusive section of this beautiful hotel located on the top 4 floors of the hotel. We celebrated an anniversary in Horizon Club rooms at Sangri-La and it is a visit I will remember. The Horizon rooms are located on the top floors and connected to the floor with the Horizon Lounge by a circular, grand staircase. The rooms are unique in design and the thai heritage is visible in the decor. We recieved a chocolate treat as a special welcome and with regards to the room I could wish for nothing more. The view is to die for and the architecture is clever so that rooms on both sides of the corridor have river views. The lounge is very large with devoted staff (a special thanks to Kook!). They serve breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails with a buffet. We tried breakfast downstairs but were unimpressed. While everything else at this grand hotel is the best in its class, the downstairs breakfast was noisy, messy and for some reason guests cannot help themselves to fruit, baked goods and yoghurt. You must wait behind a counter while staff picks pieces of fruit for you, which is time-consuming and strange. I was also surprised by how different hospitality was in the breakfast restaurant: we waited a long time for coffee, were not offered refills and the egg station chef sloppily poured scrambled eggs on top of my plate with indian curry. So for breakfast the lounge is much better if you have the opportunity. Afternoon tea is limited (better at Marriott, Hilton Conrad in my opinion) but they do serve 2 sets of sandwiches, scones and fresh fruit. The real experience is cocktail hour where they let you choose from a list of 12 cocktails, wine and beer. The buffet is enough to sustain you until breakfast so we did not go out for dinner afterwards. They serve lovely chocolates from the lobby chocolaterie after the main courses and everything is beautifully laid out. Large pool area, stunning lobby, very kind and respectful staff everywhere but the breakfast room. Thank you, Shangri-La, for this most enjoyable experience. We will live on the memory until we can return! This section of the Shangri La is an oasis of luxury calm and smiles. The rooms are Feng Shui beautifully decorated with magnificent view on the river. The Club has been closed for a long period during the Covid 19 period. Now they reopened and guest are coming back as Thailand is now accepting tourists again Usually when I visited the Shangri La I was treated With a welcome back, this time with welcome home !!! This simple words make me feel that I’m not just a customer. Great food and great services.
