Get a glimpse of the old markets of Batam

Join in a local traditional market tour if you like to experience a more off-the-beaten-path of Batam. This tour gives you an insight into the daily lives of the locals here in the old traditional ways. We visited a wet market where people came to buy fresh produce, like vegetables, fish and poultry. There aren’t many of such markets left in the city so it was cool to see an actual one in action. Next, we visited a traditional Chinese medicine shop to learn about the herbs and remedies they sell there. Then we checked out a local retail shop that sells odds and ends. The shop owners are very friendly and if you negotiate and get more of their products, they are usually quite willing to give discounts! All in all, a fun learning experience on our trip there.
