The park outside the east wall of the Summer Palace, Liulangzhuang Park, is now officially open to the public for free.❗ Compared to the neighboring royal garden, the Summer Palace, it certainly falls short, but if you understand its history, it is quite impressive. 📍Located to the south of the newly built Gongmen Gate of the Summer Palace, the first phase of Liulangzhuang Park has been officially completed and opened to the public. The park was constructed by the district's landscaping bureau and is situated in the Three Hills and Five Gardens area. Its completion has effectively improved the landscape environment outside the east wall of the Summer Palace and along the east road of Kunming Lake, highlighting the historical and cultural features of the region. 📍The first phase of Liulangzhuang Park is adjacent to the east road of Kunming Lake, covering an area of 13.77 hectares. Historically, this area was the initial planting area for rice in the west of Beijing. During the renovation and design process, the value elements of the site's current state were fully preserved, restoring a certain area of rice planting in the west of Beijing, and the water landscape environment within the site was also comprehensively enhanced. 📍Liulangzhuang Park (Phase I) is divided into two areas, north and south. The northern area restores rice planting in the west of Beijing to the south of the newly built Gongmen Gate of the Summer Palace, with viewing platforms set up between the rice paddies and plank roads beside the water channels, creating sightseeing rice fields. The southern area is a natural landscape garden, where local plants such as white pine, Chinese ash, and Acer truncatum are planted on the basis of fully preserving the existing large trees on the site. To highlight the landscape features, the park has adopted a rotation of rapeseed flowers and rice in the west of Beijing on the basis of restoring the rice fields. From March to May each year, when the rapeseed flowers are in full bloom, it provides an area for citizens to enjoy flower viewing and 'check-in'. From the end of May, when rice is planted, until October, the entire area can present the magnificent scene of rice planting in the west of Beijing as it was in history. 📍Creating beautiful pastoral landscapes The design takes into account the enjoyment of the citizens and the 'check-in' areas for internet celebrities. Important nodes in the park are set with flower paths for citizens to enjoy and for internet celebrities to take photos. Various types of flowers suitable for growth and blooming in this season are used, including large-flowered petunias, lupins, and verbena, together creating a flower path with a landscape effect similar to 'Monet's Garden'. 🚍Specific location: Haidian District, Summer Palace (west of the newly built Gongmen Road)
