A Second Visit to Napoleon's Sad Place - Waterloo Town

Waterloo Town, located at the end of the Soignies Forest, 18 km south of Brussels, Belgium, is a famous ancient battlefield in Europe. On the evening of June 18, 1815, the Anglo-Dutch coalition and Prussian army commanded by the Duke of Wellington besieged and finally defeated Napoleon here, thus ending the history of this legendary figure's dominance in Europe. The battlefield is mainly located in the fields south of the town, and the related monuments mainly include the Lion's Mound, the Panorama Museum, and the Wax Museum, which are located south of Waterloo Town. In 1862, people piled up a hill at the place where Prince George of the Allied Forces was injured, and placed a 4.5-meter-long, 28-ton iron lion on top of the hill, which is the world-famous Waterloo Monument, built to commemorate the tens of thousands of soldiers who died in the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815. Standing here, you can have a panoramic view of the ancient battlefield of Waterloo. Not far from the Waterloo Monument, there is a bronze statue of Napoleon, commemorating the general who was once heroic but was finally defeated at Waterloo. There is a museum underground, which displays the equipment of the British and French armies at that time, and there is a very good 4D movie, which shows many details of the battle that day and Napoleon's tragic heroism, which is very worth watching. If you have enough time to travel to Brussels, it is highly recommended to visit this ancient battlefield. You can take a train to the town and then transfer to a bus to the scenic spot.
