A Great Value Hotel in Downtown Changsha… I'll Stay Here Again and Again!!

Changsha Meixi Lake Grand Hyatt: A Stay that Combines Value and Quality I recently stayed at the Changsha Meixi Lake Grand Hyatt and had such a great experience that I decided to share it. 💰️ Average cost per person: Around CNY 800 on weekdays 🧹 Soundproofing/Cleanliness: The hotel's soundproofing was excellent, providing a quiet environment for rest. However, the cleanliness could be improved. I found a few long hairs in the bathroom and on the towels, possibly due to the high occupancy and less meticulous cleaning. 🏘️️️ Room Type/Layout: I stayed in an open suite on the 48th floor. The sense of space was decent, with a stunning view of the lake and the city across the river. The room layout was well-designed and comfortable. I was also told I would be upgraded to a 70 sq m suite later, which would be even more spacious. 🛌 Amenities/Facilities: The hotel opened in 2016, and the overall hardware and facilities are well-maintained. The lobby bar, front desk, entrance, gym, swimming pool, and in-room facilities all looked new, with only the restaurant showing some age. The swimming pool is very photogenic, and the lounge chairs are comfortable. While the pool itself is nothing special, the water temperature is pleasant, and it's open from 6am to 10pm or 11pm, which is great for those who like to do fasted cardio. The gym equipment is a bit basic, which is a slight drawback. The bedding in the room is comfortable, and they offer complimentary red wine, welcome fruit, and cold brew tea. Turndown service includes scented cards, conditioner, and body lotion, which is a thoughtful touch. The dinner at the lobby bar was exquisite and far surpassed the lounges at the JW Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott. 💗 Other tips: - Dining experience: The breakfast is arguably the best among Changsha hotels. Although the area is not large and the variety isn't extensive, every dish is delicious. Take the rice noodles, for example: not only are they seasoned perfectly, but the toppings like stir-fried pork with chili and braised beef are exceptional. They use high-gluten rice noodles, which are chewy and flavorful. Happy hour is also a great value, with generous portions of meat, low-alcohol and tasty signature cocktails, and decent stinky tofu. The only downside is the limited selection of alcoholic beverages. - Location: The hotel is located next to Meixi Lake and the Performing Arts Center. Turning right out of the hotel leads directly to Meixi Lake. Many rooms offer lake views. The address is 1177 Meihu Lake Road, Yuelu District. The surrounding environment is beautiful, and transportation is convenient. - Service quality: They confirmed a room upgrade and offered complimentary breakfast and lobby bar access after I sent an email in advance. As a first-time guest, I received complimentary red wine and a welcome fruit platter. The service was warm and attentive. Compared to the JW Marriott, the management felt a bit more relaxed, which might be a plus for guests who prefer not to be disturbed too much. Despite a few minor flaws, the Changsha Meixi Lake Grand Hyatt offers excellent value for money. Its service, dining, and location are all outstanding, making it a highly recommended place to stay. If the cleanliness and management aspects were further improved, the experience would be even more perfect, and I would definitely consider returning for another stay when the price is right.
