A Pilgrimage to Kaifu Temple in Changsha—A Serene and Pious Experience

Kaifu Temple is the oldest and most popular temple in Changsha. Originally built in 927 AD, during the Later Tang Dynasty, it boasts over a thousand years of history. As a renowned temple of the Yangqi school of the Linji Chan Buddhism, Kaifu Temple is not only a significant cultural heritage site for Chinese Buddhism but also a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit in Hunan. The main building complex is laid out along a north-south central axis, consisting of the mountain gate, the Three Sages Hall (Maitreya Hall), the Mahavira Hall, the Vairocana Hall, and side rooms.
