Huai Plakang Temple, Chiang Rai

Wat Huai Plakang Located in Rim Kok Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, it is another beautiful temple in Chiang Rai Province. It is located on a hill and surrounded by hills. You can see beautiful scenery. The highlight of this temple is “Phop Chok Tham Chedi”, which has a unique shape, a pointed shape that combines Chinese and Lanna art. The red roof has dragon statues stretching along both sides of the stairs. Inside the chedi are Buddha images and various arhats. It is also home to a large statue of Guan Yin carved from fragrant sandalwood, as well as a large white statue of Guan Yin and a beautiful white church with magnificent stucco patterns. Phop Chok Tham Chedi has a pair of dragon statues protecting the chedi. It is an unseen photo spot in Chiang Rai that everyone who visits must stop by to take a picture. The reason why the 9-story chedi is called Phop Chok Tham Chedi is because Wat Huai Plakang has been an abandoned temple since ancient times. The exact history of its construction is unknown. Later, Phra Ajahn Phop Chok Tissawangso renovated and built many permanent structures, so it became the center of the minds of the people of Chiang Rai once again. Next to Phop Chok Chedi is a white chapel with a Naga staircase leading up. Magnificent with stucco patterns throughout the building. Inside is a white principal Buddha image, and there are also beautiful stucco patterns on the walls. The largest Guanyin statue in Thailand is approximately 79 meters high, equivalent to a 25-26-story building. It is located on a hill and looks majestic. It is believed that anyone who comes to pray for health, finances, or work will receive that blessing. On the way up to pay homage to Guanyin, you will see beautifully crafted architecture, especially the white dragon statue on the graceful stairs. The atmosphere is like being in China. Inside the Guanyin statue, you can go up to see the view of Wat Huai Plakang from a high angle. If you go up, take the elevator to the 25th floor (the elevator fee is 20 baht per person). You can walk around the temple and walk to the viewpoint. You will be at the eyes of Guanyin, where you can see the view of Chiang Rai. You can also see the dragon gate at the entrance to the temple. In front of the large Guanyin statue, it is another highlight that you must not miss. #WatHuaiPlakang #ChiangRaiTravel #DriveAwayWhenTiredTakeABreak #mind_madge #WaitingForTheDayToDepart #Thailand #NorthEastTeam
