Honyadong Commercial Area is one of the most vibrant parts of Chongqing and a major tourists attraction. It is a lively place at both day and night. Located close to Jiefangbei CBD and on the banks of the Yangtze River, it comprises a large indoor shopping area, various restaurants and old buildings built on and around the hillside and into the hill itself, hence the cave name. There are many hotpot restaurants and places selling local snacks as well as street food stalls underneath. Inside the large building is a plethora of small boutique shops selling everything from clothing, toys and trips to souvenirs and furniture. During the day it is a nice place to come and walk opposite along the river promenade and gaze at the bridges and the boats. At night, crowds descend on this area to eat, take photos and do their shopping. However, it's best to try visiting at both times as they offer very different experiences. At night, the buildings are vibrantly lit up and can see the opposite CBD, bridges and skyscrapers lit up also-a very impressive sight.
