As soon as I stepped into the Mahavira Hall and looked up at the massive chiwen and the painted ceiling, I was instantly struck by the ancient charm spanning a thousand years. The 'Heavenly Palace Pavilion' in the Pavilion of Buddhist Scriptures is so exquisite it feels like a fairytale, and the smiling Bodhisattva with clasped hands is incredibly soothing, radiating a timeless gentleness. From the top floor of the Huayan Pagoda, you can overlook Datong city, where the gray bricks and tiles intertwine with the bustling streets, creating a collision of historical depth and lively modernity. Truly worth the visit! ✨ Highly recommend going around 4 PM when the crowd is sparse. Remember to purchase tickets in advance through the official WeChat account. The site clears out around 6 PM, giving you two hours to explore and take photos at your leisure.
