It was first built in the third year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1738) and rebuilt in the fourteenth year of Emperor Daoguang's reign. It is the only well-preserved place in my country for recruiting officials for the imperial examinations during the feudal dynasties and a historical witness to the feudal imperial examination system. The original building covers an area of ​​more than 20,000 square meters. It is a north-facing and south-facing central axis building. It is large in scale and majestic. From south to north, there are the screen wall, the main gate, the second gate, the Kuige Haoshe, the lobby, the second hall, the back building and other main buildings. The martial arts area on the east side originally had buildings such as the martial arts hall, Wenchang Palace, and the harem. The layout of the Gongyuan buildings is staggered, and some ancillary buildings are built between the courtyards according to the needs of use. There are also barracks, deacon rooms, ceremonial rooms, etc. outside the gate, which are magnificent. The whole architectural layout is relaxed and varied.
