Travel Guide

The Tomb of Emperor Yongli is located in Gaotang Mountain, Daping Village, Yundong Town, Duyun City. It is the tomb of Emperor Yongli Zhu Youlang, the last emperor of the Southern Ming Dynasty. This tomb has high academic value for the study of the history of the Southern Ming Dynasty and was listed as a municipal cultural relic protection unit in 1986. Duyun-born courtier Fu Gang secretly buried the remains of Emperor Yongli here, claiming it was the tomb of the King of Guangxi. In the tenth year of the Republic of China (1921), Ren Kecheng, then governor of Guizhou Province, ordered Chen Ju, the chief editor of the provincial annals, to revise the provincial annals, confirming it as the Tomb of Emperor Yongli, and repaired the tomb and built a tombstone. It was damaged during the Cultural Revolution and later repaired. On both sides of the imperial tomb are the tombs of Guo Changqi and Tu Hongyou. Guo Changqi and Tu Hongyou were both loyal ministers of Emperor Yongli. It can be speculated that they were likely killed together with Emperor Yongli at Wuhua Mountain in Kunming. Guo Changqi's tomb is on the right side of Emperor Yongli's tomb. Guo Changqi was from Duyun, Guizhou. The Qing emperor repeatedly asked Wu Sangui to recruit Guo Changqi, but Guo Changqi remained loyal and refused to surrender until his death. It is said that Emperor Qianlong was grateful for Guo Changqi's loyalty and bestowed him the posthumous title of "Jiemin." Tu Hongyou's tomb is on the left side of Emperor Yongli's tomb. Tu Hongyou was also from Duyun, Guizhou. He followed Emperor Yongli for years, traveling to Guangdong, Hunan, Guangxi, and other places, helping Emperor Yongli resist the Qing army and offering advice. In October 1997, the director of the Duyun City Cultural Center organized the excavation of the imperial tomb. It is said that two complete elbow bones were found inside, with no other burial items.
