When the groundwater flows through the hot rock layers, the water temperature also increases, creating enormous pressure and pushing itself through the cracks in the granite to the earth's surface, resulting in hot springs erupting with hot steam and smoke rising all the time. The heat of the water in the hot springs is about 80-100 degrees Celsius. The hot springs erupting from these ponds contain many beneficial minerals, such as calcium, sodium, and sulfur, which are believed to have properties that can help treat skin diseases and arthritis.
