The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, also known as 'Chen Clan Academy', commonly referred to as Chen Clan Temple, is located on Zhongshan 7th Road in Guangzhou. The construction of the Chen Clan Academy began in the 14th year of the Guangxu period (1888) and was completed in the 19th year (1893) . It is a 'joint ancestral hall' funded by the Chen families from all over Guangdong Province, providing a temporary residence for the Chen clan members who came to the provincial capital for imperial examinations, awaiting appointments, paying taxes, litigation, and other affairs. In the 1920s and 1930s, it was included in two major works, 'World Architecture Art' from Germany and 'Ancient Chinese Art Architecture' from Britain.
