Most underrated city in Canada
#2023travelwish
I always like to explore different parts of Canada. There is so much more to discover outside of the larger cities of Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.
Nova Scotia is located on the east coast of Canada and neighbours the Atlantic Ocean. It main City is known as Halifax.
If you are in Halifax it very highly you will be visiting Waterfront which is a hotspot in the city.
See the picture which I have taken before how I wish I can go back there again .

Halifax best Brewery

They serve their flights on beer barrel staves, and they aren’t short pours either. I love that Garrison lets you bring in outside food and enjoy a few brews and I up grabbing lobster rolls and salad from the Farmers Market across the road which were a perfect accompaniment to the delicious beers
The beers were super varied, from IPAs and stouts, selections included the Tall Ship Amber, the Nut Brown (a favorite), the Irish Red, Garrison IPA, and the unique Raspberry Wheat.
Great place to hang out downtown and a must-visit for craft beer lovers.Would definitely go back if I visit Halifax again.

A place like no other!
Isolated and remove, Sable Island is only accessible by plane or boat. Now protected by Parks Canada, anyone wishing to visit must obtain permission. Located roughly 300km from the Halifax coast, the sandy island is one of Canada’s furthest offshore islands, and is home to hundreds of wild horses. With a history spanning more than four hundred years, Sable Island has come to be called “The Graveyard of the Atlantic,” as more than 350 shipwrecks have been recorded.

The Halifax area has a variety of public spaces, ranging from urban gardens, public squares, expansive forested parks, and historic sites. The original grid plan devised when Halifax was founded in 1749 included a central military parade square, the Grand Parade. The square hosts the City Hall at one end, and is a popular site for concerts, political demonstrations, as well as the annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the central cenotaph. Another popular downtown public space is the timber Halifax Boardwalk, which stretches approximately 3 km (1.9 mi) and is integrated with several squares and monuments. Halifax Harbour is a major port used by numerous shipping lines, administered by the Halifax Port Authority. The Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Coast Guard have major installations along prominent sections of coastline in both Halifax and Dartmouth. The harbour is also home to a public ferry service connecting downtown Halifax to two locations in Dartmouth. Sheet Harbour is the other major port in the municipality and serves industrial users on the Eastern Shore.

During our trip to Canada to see all the fall foliage this fall season, we checked the famous Peggy’s Point Lighthouse. We heard it’s still an active lighthouse and a must see landmark while in Nova Scotia (since it’s very iconic to Canada)!

From tranquil beaches to bustling cities, the charm of Halifax
Bidding farewell to the fine sands and large pebbles of Ingonish Beach, as well as the nearby freshwater lake, we headed towards Halifax.
👍 On our way through the town of Baddeck, we visited the museum dedicated to Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone. This genius not only invented the telephone but also created an alphabet for the deaf and mute, and helped Helen Keller, making him a legend. The museum displays Bell's improved airplane models, showcasing his extraordinary creativity and leaving us in awe.
👍 Upon arriving in Halifax, we couldn't wait to rush to the Bicycle Thief restaurant to taste the local cuisine. Although the Tuna tartare wasn't quite to our taste, the main course Cioppino was astonishingly delicious and highly recommended!
❤ After dinner, we strolled along the Halifax Waterfront. The bustling streets, fishing boats docked at the harbor, the myriad of shops by the sea, and the European-style street scenes all exuded vitality.
🍽 Of course, we couldn't miss the famous local Cows ice cream. I chose my favorite coconut cream pie flavor, which was incredibly delicious and a true treat for the taste buds!
👎 In the evening, we eagerly went night fishing for squid. However, the sudden rain and fog turned the anticipated night into a perilous adventure. With dark roads and very low visibility, we had to grope our way forward, but fortunately, we eventually found the fishing spot. Despite the abundance of squid, none took the bait, and we ended up returning empty-handed.
📝 Today's journey, from tranquil beaches to bustling cities, from historical imprints to modern vitality, provided us with a rich experience. We recommend following YouTuber "Zhuang Ye Zatan," who introduces the origins, history, and stories of each Canadian province in an easy-to-understand manner, making it perfect for listening to during road trips and enriching the journey.

Halifax Pier 21: Visit the Canadian Museum of Immigration to learn about the history of Canadian immigration
I am OceanWaveTour + Global Traveler, please follow me!
(Published in 57 countries/regions, 1015 cities across 5 continents, this is the 1782nd original travel photo story)
There are many museums along the Halifax waterfront, and I recommend you visit the 'Canadian Museum of Immigration' at Pier 21!
From 1928 to 1971, Pier 21 was the first stop for over 1 million immigrants entering Canada before and after World War II, playing a crucial role in history.
Today, part of the pier has been converted into the Canadian Museum of Immigration History, where you can visit to learn about the stories of immigrants and witness their significant contributions to Canadian culture, economy, and way of life.
