Former Central Police Station｜A landmark of Hong Kong history and art

#Hong Kong beautiful scene check-in spot The former Central Police Station is located at 10 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong. It forms a statutory monument complex with the Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison. It was listed as a protected building under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance in 1995. It is about a 10-minute walk from Exit D2 of Central MTR Station. This group of buildings was built in the mid-19th century. The police station was completed in 1864 and served as the police headquarters until it was closed in 2004. The Barracks Building (1864) and the Police Headquarters Building (1919) are the most distinctive, adopting the neoclassical style, with heavy granite staircases and ventilation corridors to adapt to the Hong Kong climate. In 2018, the complex was revitalized into "Tai Kwun – Centre for Heritage and Arts", which was renovated with funding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club and is open to the public free of charge. Tai Kwun houses contemporary art exhibitions, historical tours and performance spaces, while the JC Cube outdoor plaza often hosts markets and concerts. Check-in hotspots include the facade of the barracks building, the prison courtyard and the exterior walls of 16 historic buildings. The lighting at night adds a retro atmosphere. Recommended photo opportunities: Hollywood Road entrance or prison corridor. Central SOHO area delicacies such as Tim Ho Wan dim sum and Lan Fong Yuen milk tea are within easy reach.
