"Hong Kong Kaleidoscope" Exhibition: An immersive experience of Hong Kong's century-long social changes. The Hong Kong Museum of History has revamped its second-floor exhibition area, introducing the new "Hong Kong Kaleidoscope" immersive exhibition. With a black backdrop and spotlight effects, the exhibition evokes a nostalgic old Hong Kong vibe! Spanning 170 years, the exhibition starts with Hong Kong's first Chinese unofficial legislator and explores contributions made by Chinese, British, and even Portuguese individuals to Hong Kong's societal development. Surprisingly, the Portuguese community has played a significant role not only in Macau but also in Hong Kong! From education and law enforcement to heroic resistance during wartime, economic stimulation, and even the delicious Portuguese cuisine, their impact is undeniable. The exhibition also showcases the flourishing light industry and daily life of Hong Kong residents starting from the post-war 1960s. Items on display include washboards, sewing machines, medicated oils, and models of the old Star Ferry, the iconic red "KMB" double-decker buses, the first-generation MTR trains, and the Hong Kong Observatory's No. 9 typhoon signal model. Many forgotten cultural artifacts are brought back to life in this exhibition, sparking a flood of memories! On the upper level of the exhibition, there is a special section dedicated to the history of Chinese migration and the development of Chinese-American communities, which is also worth exploring. On the same floor, the renowned "National Security Exhibition Hall" provides insights into the achievements of China and Hong Kong's development.
