I once had a friend bring me an egg tart from Soft Thunder, and it was unforgettable after just one bite. Today, I finally had the chance to try some of their other offerings, and I had high expectations. First up was the savory mentaiko baguette. It wasn’t overly hard, and the mentaiko topping was generous, delivering a salty and fragrant taste. Personally, I can never resist anything with mentaiko. Next was the oversized butterfly pastry. I’ve seen similar ones in hotel pastry displays before, but this was my first time trying one. Initially, I thought such a large pastry might just look impressive but lack substance. However, the texture wasn’t overly dense, and it had a rich buttery aroma—definitely not bad! For the cream rolls, my friend and I shared both the original and chocolate flavors. My friend preferred the original, but I liked the chocolate more. Either way, both flavors were of excellent quality. Finally, I revisited their signature custard tarts, trying both the original and mocha flavors. Both were crispy, sweet, and aromatic, but when it comes to these tarts, I’m firmly in the original flavor camp. To accompany the treats, I had a quality Flat White.
