Later, the buildings were handed over to the Antiquities and Monuments Office for restoration and became the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre in 2005 and opened to the public. The Discovery Centre covers an area of ​​4,000 square meters and is now a Grade I historical building. The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre exhibition began in mid-2007. It is themed on archaeology and cultural heritage architecture, introducing Hong Kong's modern history and precious cultural relics. It also exhibits the changes in Hong Kong in different eras.
