The official name is "Chizan sect's main temple, Kongosan Kinjoin Heikenji Temple". It was built in 1128 by Sonken Shonin of Koyasan and built by Heiken Kanejo and Sonken Shonin. The current main hall was completed in 1964 and houses the statue of Kobo Daishi, the deity that was discovered from the sea by Hirama Kenjo based on his dream work.
