An iconic statue fro

An iconic statue from Kobe based on manga series written by Yokoyama san located near Shin-Nagata station. Tetsujin 28-Go Stands as a center piece in Nagata Ward to reawaken the town spirit after the Great Hanshin earyhquake that took away more than 6,000 lives. Based on the comic figure created by Mitsuteru Yokohama, a native of Kobe, Tetsujin 28 was finished in 2009 and is good for a stop-over on the way to other destination. Its gigantic body looks very friendly and keeps all passer-by high hope for the future secured happy life. Its a little out of the main Kobe tourist areas, but If you grew up watching Gigantor (that giant blue robot) cartoons on TV, this is a place you must visit to rediscover that child in you. #givethanks #givethanks

Kobe Animal Kingdom

I loved the bird section and the smaller animals. It was great the way they were able to move around freely and unrestrained by cages. This provided a great learning opportunity for children and they all loved the petting area and the shows that the keepers arranged. A great place where you can meet and interact with animals. Special cuddling section included. Interesting programme during the day, and many species very well mixed together. Seems like people running the place really love animals, and that they are happy :) #givethanks #givethanks

Kobe Maritime Museum

A really good little museum. As Kawasaki is one of the most important Japanese companies that existed through the Meiji restoration, World War 2 and up to the modern era, this museum is also a history of modern Japan itself. It's also very important to the port of Kobe where Kawasaki is a large company. There is plenty to fascinate history buffs, those interested in engineering, and of course there are the motorbikes which are just cool by themselves :) We were able to appreciate how Kawasaki has evolved through the years and how they shaped the technologies we have today. The museum is also interactive and very interesting. #givethanks #givethanks

Kobe Ōji Zoo

Kobe Oji Zoo is a zoo near residential area which are easily reached by Hankyu Line train and get off in Oji Station. We were in Kobe mid week and decided to head to the zoo to see Tan Tan the panda. There was no waiting to get in or to see the exhibits, there were a lot of school children on an excursion but other than that it was just about ours. Yes it’s a little dated but who cares the animals are there to see. I loved that with some animals there was a chance to see where they slept incase they weren’t out. It was an enjoyable day and if your visiting Kobe and looking for something to do this could be something. #givethanks #givethanks
