[Shinano Railway] The former express highway, Shinano Railway, overlooking the scenery of Nagano

It took over a section that was originally part of the Shinetsu Main Line and continues to operate as an important means of transportation for the region. Historic townscapes such as Old Karuizawa and Komoro remain along the line, and the view of Mount Asama from the train window is beautiful. Stations and track facilities that evoke the days when the Asama express train ran can be seen here and there, making it quietly popular with railway fans. The tourist train Rokumon is also in operation. It is a relaxing line where you can travel while feeling the local atmosphere and the flow of time.
