A museum in London's Docklands that foreign tourists often overlook

After getting off the subway at Canary Wharf in London, I strolled along the inner river and discovered a museum that is not crowded with tourists but is definitely worth exploring: the Museum of London Docklands. First of all, the museum offers free admission, although donation boxes are placed around the venue, encouraging visitors to contribute £5 each to support its operations. This area was once home to the world's largest dock complex. Originally, it was the site of Warehouse No. 1 at the West India Docks. The adjacent West India Docks opened in 1802 and became London's first enclosed dock system. Through its exhibits, visitors can delve into London's history of trade, immigration, and commerce. The museum provides insights into the operations of London's cargo docks in the 19th century, showcasing numerous artifacts that reveal how the working class lived and earned a living during that era. Many of the artifacts on display were collected by the British Empire from its various colonies. The museum spans three floors, and there are lockers available on the ground floor and basement level. However, visitors need to pay £1 in cash to use them.
