Rare Baroque civil architectural style

Andalusia Tour ~ Cordoba (Region) Cordoba is a magnificent jewel of Baroque civil architecture. It was recently restored and converted into a museum and visitor center for the town of Lucena. This was a palace or manor belonging to a prominent local family. Two aspects are particularly striking: first, the facade features Baroque columns and capitals in veined marble from Cabra that decorate the doors and windows on both floors; Second, the interior is organized around two arcaded courtyards, one of which features a Baroque staircase decorated with 18th-century tiles from Seville. It is covered by a Rococo dome and the decorative plaster work depicts architectural motifs and noble coats of arms. Restoration work ended in March 2011, and the rooms of the Lucena Visitor Center were opened, resulting in the discovery of a sculpture of the Roman god Cupid, as well as some neoclassical frescoes. #2024TravelReview #SpainTravel #Andalucia
