#favouriteitinerary #travelanywhere One of the most unforgettable experiences in our Taiwan itinerary was traveling to Jingtong Station, the final stop on the Pingxi Railway Line. Leaving behind the lively crowds of Shifen, we boarded the train and watched as the scenery gradually shifted to a more serene and picturesque setting. As soon as we stepped off the train, we were greeted by the sight of Jingtong Station, an elegant wooden railway stop with a distinct Japanese architectural influence, originally built in 1929. Recognized as a heritage landmark in 2003, this station played a significant role in Taiwan’s coal mining history. Just across from it stood the remains of an old coal processing plant, a fascinating relic from the industry’s heyday. Compared to the bustling energy of Shifen and Pingxi, Jingtong had a quiet, almost nostalgic atmosphere. We strolled along the quaint old street, where a handful of local vendors offered refreshing ice cream and traditional street snacks.
