Ryukyu Mura (Ryukyu Village) in Okinawa City

Ryukyu Mura is a small-scale theme park in Okinawa that showcases the traditional culture of the Ryukyu Kingdom for tourists to explore. The park is divided into different zones, including a museum displaying history, shops, souvenir stores, and performance areas. The traditional buildings are characterized by their distinctive red-tiled roofs and are surrounded by stone walls to protect against storms. Interesting activities at Ryukyu Mura include workshops on various crafts, local Okinawan music performances played with the Sanshin, a traditional Okinawan instrument, and Taiko drumming. Admission fees: Adults (ages 16 and up) 2,000 yen / High school students 1,500 yen / Children (ages 6 - 15) 800 yen, and children under 6 years old are free. Access: From downtown Naha, take the bus from Asahibashi / Naha Bus Terminal (Platform 11) on lines 20, 120 to the Ryukyumura stop. The journey takes about 1 hour.
