Shuanglin Temple.

Shuanglin Temple is located in Qiaotou Village, Zhongdu Township, Pingyao County, Shanxi Province, about 6 kilometers from Pingyao County. It is one of the key Buddhist temples in the Han area. On December 3, 1997, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site together with the Ancient City of Pingyao and Zhenguo Temple. Shuanglin Temple was built during the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Wuping period of the Northern Qi Dynasty (386-571 AD), originally named "Zhongdu Temple", and was renamed "Shuanglin Temple" during the Northern Song Dynasty due to the saying "Shuanglin enters extinction". The overall architectural style of the temple is simple, and it contains precious cultural relics such as Tang locust trees, Song steles, Ming bells, and ancient colored sculptures and murals. Among them, more than 2,000 colored sculptures are particularly famous. They inherit the fine traditions of the Tang, Song, Liao, Jin, and Yuan periods, are highly realistic, and exquisite in craftsmanship, and are known as the "Treasure House of Oriental Colored Sculpture Art".
